M&E internship

Doing your internship with Yoga and Sport with Refugees (YSR) is a great opportunity to combine an academic internship with gaining very practical on the ground experience in a grassroots organization working with people on the move. Your internship is always a combination of a specific project, event organization and regular volunteering in our gyms. This means you will also do gym shifts where you register people, take care of the equipment and provide everyone with what they need to exercise.

At the Monitoring and Evaluation in YSR we work to continuously expand and upgrade our data collection, data analysis, and data visualization. Our activity includes a close collaboration with the fundraising department and with the communication department to establish a clear and reliable communication with the audience of the Organization.

We are looking for a profile that can support the M&E department with technical knowledge of JavaScript and/or Google App Script, and that can handle tasks of data analysis using Excel Formula Syntax.

We will work in

• Reviewing the new list of KPIs for Yoga and Sport With Refugees, and updating or redefining the KPI files along with the collection methods. This is to ensure that they accurately represent the organization’s goals, considering the addition of new indicators for the year 2024.
• Working on improving a Complaint and Feedback mechanism internally within YSR and externally with various beneficiaries. This involves gathering feedback through surveys, focus groups, and engaging in activities where feedback can be obtained.
• Reporting the collected data internally with the other locations through weekly updates and externally through monthly reports
• Develop standardized data flow that includes primary data sources (e.g. financial, data on participants & their participation, surveys, volunteers database and manually entered data), processed data (e.g. by use, purpose, data sensitivity) and reports.
• Develop the dashboard that visualizes KPIs for the three different audiences of YSR: donors, management, and beneficiaries.

You will meet weekly with the other interns, staff team and your responsible coordinator to discuss the progress on your project and where this might overlap with others.

What we are looking for:

• A minimum age of 21 years
• A minimum commitment of 3 months
• Proficiency in English writing and speaking
• Required knowledge of: JavaScript and/or Google App Script.
• Required knowledge of Excel Formula Syntax.
• Preferable experience in data sources analysis and in data flow improvement.
• Preferable experience in conceptualization, design, implementation, and evaluation of : KPIs, surveys, and focus groups.
• Preferable experience in impact assessment production.
• Someone who is organized, loves to plan and has great time management skills
• Someone who is independent and preferably has experience with work in NGOs
• Someone who is eager to learn and is not afraid to take up new tasks
• Someone with a flexible approach and able to adapt to different situation
