Job Overview: Under the direction of the Gender Safety and Equity Program Coordinator, the Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Program Specialist will be responsible for implementing culturally-appropriate interventions to improve health outcomes for refugee mothers and children.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Coordinate pre-natal/post-partum care and education

· Coordinate new-born appointments and follow up

· Respond to, triage, and coordinate urgent maternal/infant medical care as needed

· Collect and distribute supplies for infants as needed

· Facilitate access to WIC through enrollment and orientations

· Present orientation/trainings for WIC volunteers as needed

· Maintain car seat inventory; distribute car seats and conduct education on proper use

· Develop and update program curricula

· Research and develop maternal and child health program strategies

· Track outcomes, analyze data, and provide recommendations for program improvement

· Conduct outreach with community partners; maintain and cultivate partnerships

· Supervise 1-2 Maternal and Child Health Interns per semester

· Communicate/coordinate appointments with WIC Volunteers

· Supervise Maternal and Child Health Access Assistant

· Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area

· Comply with all policies and protocols of the agency

· Support overall functioning of Health Programs, projects and initiatives

· Coordinate and provide transportation for client medical/health appointments

· Participate in all program meetings and staff development activities

· Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work or related field of study preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Relevant professional experience in human services field required; minimum of 2 years’ experience preferred.
  • Experience in health education/administration, preferably with diverse/refugee population
  • Familiar with Medicaid, WIC, US Health Care System and Refugee health needs/issues strongly preferred

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group is desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

Working Environment:

  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • Flex schedule, ability to ‘adjust’ hours to meet programmatic needs
