Overview

The Marketing Operations Manager will ensure quality management of marketing systems and reporting in support of quality engagement with external audiences. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Manager will oversee core marketing technologies, especially Marketo and WordPress, ensuring sustainable maintenance and strategic buildout in alignment with overall marketing strategy. The Manager will also own reporting on effectiveness of marketing efforts and developing new analytics capabilities that put meaningful data at the center of team decision-making. As a key member of the Marketing Operations team, the Manager will have a strong voice in development of customer engagement strategies and work with a wide range of internal stakeholders to facilitate implementation of those strategies. The Manager will directly manage and support the development of entry-level support in fulfilling these responsibilities.

To be successful in this role, you’ll be both a strategic thinker and an enthusiastic developer of efficient and scalable processes. You’ll have demonstrated success ensuring smooth, smart operations for complex systems. You’ll bring a love of data and a strong ability to determine which insights actually matter and which are unhelpful noise. You’ll also have great communications skills and comfort working in a fast-paced environment managing projects involving multiple people and teams. The Marketing Operations Manager will also have the opportunity to interact with students as a mentor, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in building a positive educational environment.

The location for this position is flexible and open to candidates residing on the East Coast.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Technology

  • Recommend, procure, implement, and maintain marketing technology stack; currently includes Marketo, Twilio, Vidyard, WordPress
  • Oversee full technology implementation for internal client teams
  • According to best practices, develop processes to simplify the use of marketing technologies for lead nurturing, lead tracking/reporting, and lead scoring across stakeholder groups
  • Work closely with internal client teams to ensure efficiency of lead handoff from marketing to sales, including streamlining lead qualification process
  • Manage database structure and segmentation for increased campaign effectiveness
  • Ensure processes are in place to maintain integrity of marketing data
  • Act as system administrator for marketing technologies, including managing access and training for users
  • Troubleshoot campaigns, workflows, and integrations alongside IT partners
  • Manage relationships with external technology and service vendors to support with the above

Reporting & Analytics

  • Define business metrics and create dashboards and reports to measure performance (ex. database cleanliness, campaign effectiveness, pipeline contribution, overall business performance)
  • Leverage Salesforce, Marketo, and other systems to develop campaign and/or program tracking and analysis
  • Support internal client teams’ data analysis by providing methodology and documentation and consulting on data projects as needed
  • Build capacity for data analysis and provide recommendations for improving marketing effectiveness

Marketing Team member

  • Support development of marketing strategy and prioritization of strategic initiatives
  • Act as a subject matter expert in technology and reporting; consult on major team projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years’ marketing operations experience
  • Passion for efficiency and clarity, especially in systems and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage projects involving multiple departments and stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of marketing analytics and ability to identify data that meaningfully informs decision-making
  • Strong commitment to mentorship and supporting others’ growth
  • Familiarity with customer journey mapping, marketing automation systems, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or Salesforce preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail a must
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Understanding of brand consistency across a variety of media
  • Aptitude for and interest in collaborating with team to develop new marketing campaigns and opportunities for customer engagement
  • Ability to manage many competing priorities and communicate effectively when priorities shift
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Salary: Competitive and commensurate with relevant experience and skills.
