Market Systems Development Lead

DevWorks is recruiting for a Market Systems Development Lead for the anticipated USAID Ethiopia and Highland Resilience Activity (HRA) Activity. The activity will support the graduation of Productive Safety Net Program (PSNP) clients by linking them with new on-farm, off-farm, and employment opportunities. The Activity will have a strong focus on improving access to finance for vulnerable highlands households and will be integrated into USAID’s Resilience Food Security Activities (RFSAs) in five regions of Ethiopia.

The Market Systems Lead will lead the development and implementation of the project’s market systems and private sector development strategy and workplan.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of expert-level experience delivering Market Systems Development (MSD), Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) or similar approaches and analyzing agricultural market systems and designing and implementing strategies/ interventions that apply globally recognized approaches and tools, including partnering with the private sector, to facilitate inclusive and sustainable market systems improvements in Ethiopia or another East African country.
• Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining effective working relationships with private and public sector players that foster collaborative learning.
• Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge in food security, agricultural value chains/market systems, and nutrition-sensitive agriculture.
• Experience working in related fields in Ethiopia or another East African country, preferably on USAID or other international donor-funded programs.
• Experience working on market systems strengthening and private sector preferred.
• Master’s degree in agricultural economics, business, management and/or related studies with specialized study in market systems development or relevant field
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in English required
