The Product Engineering Intern will be in a role learning about the development and manufacture of ductile iron pipe fittings for the water works industry and developing increasing knowledge about engineering and manufacturing fundamentals. Application limited to current students pursuing FEF-affiliated colleges and universities degree programs.

All candidates offered employment must submit to a drug screen, physical, and background check.

  • Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Communicate to management of any deviations from this program.
  • Receive an overview of industrial manufacturing, ductile iron casting processes, participate in product and pattern design projects.
  • Spend a portion of time working in the manufacturing environment to learn the processes and unique techniques required for successful operation of a ductile iron foundry.
  • Complete basic engineering projects to include, CAD drawing, statistical analysis, and problem solving.
  • Ensure projects meet plant production, safety, quality, and environmental goals.
  • May be assigned other duties to support foundry education.
  • The Manufacturing Engineering Intern must be in the process of obtaining a degree from a FEF-affiliated college or university degree program in engineering (masters, bachelors, or associates), technology, manufacturing, or similar applicable education, with a desire to work in the foundry industry.
  • Digital literacy in Microsoft Office products required.
  • Drafting and modeling using Solid Works.
  • Interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
  • An attention to detail, desire to learn, diligent work attitude, and a willingness to work together as a team.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.   • The work environment is a typical office setting within a heavy manufacturing environment. As necessary, must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
