Our schools are part of the nationally recognized “Knowledge Is Power Program” network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools dedicated to preparing students for success in college and in life. The first KIPP New Jersey school opened in Newark in 2002 and since then our school network has expanded to educate 7,035 students in grades K-12. By 2025, KIPP New Jersey will have fifteen schools in Newark and five in Camden providing a world-class education to over 10,300 students. Founded in 2018, KIPP Miami operates four nonprofit charter schools in Greater Miami’s Urban Core communities providing a world-class education for students in grades K-8.

At KIPP NJ | Miami, we believe that outstanding teammates are the key to keeping our promises to our students and their families. The Managing Director of Talent Acquisition will lead the team responsible for outreach, recruitment, and selection of outstanding teammates for KIPP NJ-Miami. The MD of Talent Acquisition will set the vision and strategy for talent recruitment and lead the team to execute that strategy. The MD of Talent Acquisition will also coordinate and collaborate with other leaders and stakeholders to ensure that the strategy is effectively meeting the organization’s needs.

Here’s what you’ll be doing

Set vision and strategy for Talent Acquisition team:

  • Partner with organizational leaders and stakeholders to ensure talent acquisition strategy reflects organizational goals and meets the organization’s needs.
  • Research and understand industry landscape and best practices to design a strategy that will lead to meeting KIPP NJ-Miami’s talent goals.

Lead and develop talent acquisition leadership team (Regional directors, associate directors & systems analyst)

  • Hold weekly O3s with direct reports to monitor progress to goals and provide support as needed
  • Hold weekly leadership team meetings to monitor progress and make key strategic decisions
  • Plan and provide training and development for the leadership team
  • Ensure recruiters are trained and able to recruit excellent teachers
  • Support and develop recruiters as necessary to hit their performance goals
  • Observe and coach recruiters during phone screens, school leader O3s, etc.

Build systems and structures:

  • Partner with regional EDs, CMO teams, and other relevant stakeholders to decide on and implement the use of platforms and databases that allow for progress monitoring and data-based decision-making
  • Ensure that regional directors and recruiters have the appropriate and necessary touchpoints and meeting structures with stakeholders to ensure effective execution of the talent acquisition strategy

Qualifications

Must Haves

  • Experience managing others and/or driving results through others
  • Experience leading a team with strong culture to meet ambitious goals
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to solve big picture problems
  • Ability to manage stakeholders through change when faced with major strategic shifts
  • Ability to execute on and ensure implementation of strategies through direct and indirect reports
  • This job requires the individual to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, absent a legally required accommodation, pursuant to a New Jersey Executive Order and federal and state guidance

Nice to Haves

  • Teaching and/or charter school experience
  • Strong marketing sensibility
