Reporting to the Director, Children and Youth, the Manager, Children and Youth leads, manages, and provides direct supervision to a multi-disciplinary team that provides services for children, youth, and families in our community. The Manager provides leadership in program development and employee supervision to support optimal outcomes for clients and accountability to funders while ensuring that services are delivered with a client-centered, flexible approach that integrates a trauma-informed lens. The Manager will also actively contribute to the Agency’s leadership team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversee implementation of Children and Youth program activities and ensure that services are delivered on time, on budget and in compliance with funder regulations.
· Ensure that Children and Youth program staff understand the technical requirements for implementation.
· Ensure that the Children and Youth programs are implemented in ways that are responsive to community, funder, and children’s requirements and in alignment with the Agency’s principles, values, and strategic plan and compliance with the Agency’s procedures.
· Develop detailed implementation plans including procurement and distribution schedules of program inputs in line with program logistics/supply chain capacity.
· Work with the Children and Youth program partner team staff to develop work-plans and follow up with team members regularly to ensure that activities are on track
· Monitor program progress against both programmatic and budgetary targets, making adjustments to program design as necessary
· Prepare timely and high-quality program and donor reports on project activities in compliance with internal SC requirements and any relevant external donor requirements.
· Work with the Philanthropy and Communications team to identify appropriate future partners for implementation of the Children and Youth program
· Reviewing partner narrative and financial reporting.
· Take part in ongoing capacity assessments of Children and Youth program partners,
· Support the development of capacity building plans for Youth programming partners.
· Provide regular coaching on technical and program management skills to the senior Youth partner field personnel.
· Act as a mentor and role model for less experienced staff.
· Actively monitor Youth program activities at field level, ensuring quality of the Agency’s program.
· Input into the development of M&E and indicator tracking plans for all projects, and the development of additional M&E tools as necessary to monitor program progress.
· Ensure appropriate, timely and accurate data collection against agreed indicators to enable both internal and external reporting.
· Promotes, create, and sustain knowledge sharing and a learning culture within the organization.
· Produce high quality, comprehensive written reports that include recommendations for action.
· Make clear, effective presentations to stakeholders both internally and externally.
· Represent the organization at various community events, round tables, etc.
· Actively demonstrate an ongoing commitment to ensuring your safety, the safety of fellow workers, clients and their families, visitors, and volunteers.
· Contribute and lead in the culture of safety and prevention of adverse events for all in the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work degree, or in a related helping field with a specialization in Youth work or equivalent experience.
· Minimum three (3) years demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in children and youth services or in a related field.
· A minimum of two (2) years of management level experience will be considered an asset.
· Experience with community-based resources, quality improvement and evaluation.
· Demonstrated case management experience/skills to ensure effective service delivery by employees.
· Demonstrated experience/skill in solution-focused/ brief services and knowledge of evidence-based practices for complex community and family system needs, to ensure effective service delivery by employees.
· Demonstrated ability to engage and work with stakeholders from diverse sectors (public, private, non-profit, community-based organizations, resident associations, and community residents) and cultures.
· Trained in and able to institute de-escalation strategies and techniques when faced with conflict.
· Highly developed administrative, project management, evaluative and organizational skills including time management and the ability to demonstrate flexibility to address competing demands.
· Understanding of management principles related to administration, finance, and human resources.
· Collaborative, solution- and system-oriented approach; demonstrated ability to develop coalitions with cross functional team members within and outside of the agency.
· Excellent computer skills including a working knowledge of evaluation and research software (d MS Office applications).
· Strong verbal and written English language communication skills; fluency in additional languages, relevant to the communities of service, will be considered an asset.
· Develop and maintain effective working relationships with government, community organizations and major stakeholders.
· Demonstrated ability and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
· Ability to work collaboratively with personnel at all levels across multiple programs/areas.
· Ability to develop and maintain excellent relations with community organizations, networks, and funders.
· Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a strong ability to exchange knowledge, proficient computer skills.
· Superior organizational, analytical, problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, prioritize, take initiative.
· Self-directed and independent, as well as proven experience in working effectively as an inter-disciplinary team member and in collaboration with other community professionals.
· Able to provide a “Clear” or satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check as determined by the operational requirements of the program.
· Required to provide evidence of full vaccination (minimum of two doses) against COVID-19 with a vaccine approved for use in Canada.
· MUST be qualified to work in Canada legally for the Employer.
