Location: UK Flexible location (with regular travel to London)
Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: £26,652 – £31,239 pa basic (depending on experience) , (plus London Weighting of £3,344 if applicable)

How you’ll make a difference…
Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the readiness and deployment of the right emergency equipment to international areas of crisis. You will also work to support the building of Logistics & Supply Chain Management (LSCM) capacities, capabilities and competencies for emergencies, programmes, and longer-term logistics development as part of an overall National S ociety Development programme.

What you’ll be doing…**
Reporting to the Senior Logistics & Supply Chain Manager, you’ll ensure the readiness for and deployment of the Logistics Emergency Response Unit (ERU) and Mass Sanitation Module ERU equipment as required. You’ll work with the agreed Partner National Societies to ensure that the shared Logistics ERU equipment, is maintained ready for deployment and is deployed promptly as required from the agreed storage location(s).

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Supply Chain Management and Procurement – support the disaster management strategy, ensure the safekeeping of agreed stocks and timely response to deployment requirements.
  • Logistics Development – develop logistics competencies across the organisation and partner, design training and development pathways.
  • Information management – monitoring, controlling and reporting for internal audit and inspection.
    What we’re looking for…
    With a comprehensive understanding of purchasing and procurement (whole cycle) compliance and practices, you will have experience of working in humanitarian logistics in an international response, recovery, and development context.
    You will have operational level experience, able to lead on tenders / procurement process, implementing logistics and procurement systems along with skills in training, coaching, mentoring , and developing staff.
    You will be willing to work outside normal working hours and unsociable hours at short notice and have a flexible approach to work at may require travel of up to 20% of annual contracted time.

    About the team…
    The role of Logistics Officer sits within the Logistics Department of the International directorate. The department will work in partnership not only externally with Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies, but also internally within a matrix relationship with the regional staff of the BRC Programmes & Partnerships department, including advisory staff located within the regional programme teams, support teams (HR, L&D, Finance) and UK service teams
    As a member of the International Directorate you will be part of a directorate responsible for BRC’s international huma nitarian response and disaster management, support to resilience programmes and organisational development of our partner Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world.
    The work of the International Directorate also includes humanitarian policy and advocacy activities and upholding and promoting International Humanitarian Law. British Red Cross’ international work is carried out in coordination and partnership with the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement.
