Position Title: Logistics Manager (Supply)

Supervisor’s Title: Director of Logistics

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Logistics Manager (Supply) ensures that there is timely access to appropriate equipment and material as required by Global Support and Development (GSD) personnel or authorized GSD partners. They implement GSD’s logistics strategy as it pertains to supply, including the management of gear caches, supply software, GSD’s procurement process, supply staff, and the training of GSD general staff on supply policies and procedures. Finally, they will be an active participant in the development of GSD’s logistics strategy, ensuring that GSD’s supply capacity matches or exceeds the ambitions of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  1. Manages and coaches all supply, warehousing, and inventory responsible employees;
  2. Maintains contracts and good working relationships with Third Party Logistics (3PL) service providers, supply partners, and landlords to ensure that GSD has alternate warehousing and sourcing options for material required within our Areas of Response (AOR);
  3. Tracks and monitors GSD response inventory, proactively engaging with requisitioning sections to maintain minimum required quantities of material;
  4. Drafts, disseminates, and implements supply policies (including safe storage, loading/unloading, inventory, requisitioning, procurement, rehabilitation of equipment, and use of warehouse space);
  5. Develops, maintains and implements supply related training programs within GSD;
  6. Improves, maintains and implements GSD inventory management and procurement software systems;
  7. Assists the Director of Logistics in the development and implementation of the Supply portions of the GSD Logistics Strategy;
  8. Maintains order and ease of access to GSD equipment within GSD managed storage facilities by optimizing the space and resources therein;
  9. During disaster responses, supports deployed teams as needed by performing general logistics tasks
  10. Stays engaged on the subject of humanitarian impact;
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Experience:

Minimum 5 Years experience in a management position within a supply department;

Successful track record of managing and coaching teams of 4 or more professionals;

5 Years experience managing international shipping (of any volume)

2 Years experience managing warehouse infrastructure

1 Year experience operating within a supply department that regularly responds to emergency low-lead time (less than 1 week) orders

Supply experience within a humanitarian or disaster response organization, or with a for profit company with humanitarian or disaster response clients, a plus

Required:

DOT Hazmat or IATA DGR training certification (no preferred source)

Preferred:

Certification in Humanitarian Supply Chain Management (CHSCM)

Certification in Logistics, Transport and Distribution (CLTD)

Knowledge/Skills:

Strong working knowledge of procurement and project management software

Strong working knowledge of office software (word, excel, g-suite, air table)

Strong understanding of service contract management

Strong understanding of documentation required for air cargo transport

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position will be hybrid based, and the incumbent of this role is expected to work in-person 25-50% of the time in our Charlotte, NC headquarters, and 25% will include international and/or domestic travel as required

Able to lift 50lbs

Work non standard schedules

Work in austere environments ie Hot/humid outside exposure to Sunlight/UV and Salty Ocean environments.
