Lifting Hands International is looking for a Logistics Manager to start in September 2022 in Greece with a minimum six-month commitment.

About Us

Lifting Hands International operates a community center in Serres, a small city about an hour away from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. We work with a population of 1000+ refugees at the local camps, providing regular aid distributions and a range of psycho-social programs.

Role Profile

The duties of this role fall mainly into the Logistics category, but the person taking the position would also be required to assist our Aid Distribution Manager in Warehouse & Distributions when needed.

Logistics and maintenance (primary role):

  • Maintenance of LHI vehicles, apartments and the community center
  • Oversee improvements and additions to the LHI community center
  • Coordinate repair or maintenance contractors as required
  • Supervise the garden project at the community center
  • Organize and manage regular shifts of volunteers to help with logistical issues (clean-ups, repairs, painting, etc…)
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Logistics and Distributions regarding the logistical needs and priorities of the LHI in Greece program
  • Work with the Director of Logistics and Distributions to maintain oversight of finances

Warehouse and Distributions (assist current Aid Distribution Manager when required):

  • Help manage the warehouse and stock using Boxtribute software
  • Help ensure the resident census is accurate and up to date
  • Help supervise a team of resident volunteers who facilitate distributions in the camp
  • Help plan and manage distributions, including food, clothing, hygiene and diapers
  • Help develop the distribution program in line with organizational strategy
  • Help supervise international volunteers during regular warehouse shifts
  • Help develop a network of suppliers for distributions in line with budget restrictions
  • Help engage with partners and donors to highlight and fulfill distribution needs

Essential criteria:

  • Proactive: able to work well independently and without constant supervision
  • Previous humanitarian experience, particularly in a distribution or logistics role
  • International drivers license
  • Previous experience of people management
  • Professional attitude, able to remain calm under pressure
  • Able to work well in a large, multicultural team
  • Minimum six month commitment
  • Fluent English speaker, Knowledge of Greek

Desirable criteria:

  • Previous experience in a coordination role
  • Understanding of key aid distribution principles
  • Maintenance or construction skills a plus
  • Potential to stay on the team for 6-12 months

  • Five day work week + full week break after every 6 weeks of work
  • Monthly reimbursement (starting from 350 euros per month)
