Position title: Local Semi-independent Living Programme (SILP) and Graduates Coordinator المنسق المحلي لبرنامج شبه الاستقلالية والخريجين

Working location: Amman

Direct Supervisor : Children’s Village Director

Technical Supervisor/ Referrant : National Youth Advisor

Region: EUCM Jordan **

Mission of the position:

The Local SILP and Graduates Coordinator is responsible for services to young people in the semi-independent living programme (from 18-23) and graduates (23 and above) from one programme/location who leave care from the youth facilities or Children’s Village.

· Local Youth Coordinators and Youth Leaders

· National Youth Advisor

· National Child Safeguarding Advisor

· Advocacy Advisor

· National Program Development Director

· Village Director

· Other departments at national or location level ( M&E / Medical / Education / Finance / HR / ICT …etc.)

· External partners, service providers, and governmental bodies

Key performance areas and main responsibilities:

Programme Implementation, Quality Management, Monitoring and Evaluation

· Conduct individual assessments, and develop individual development plans (IDPs) with all young people in Semi-Independent Living Program (SILP).

· Maintain updated databases and files for all young people in Semi-Independent Living Program (SILP).

· Collaborate with the team to implement the actions plans which include providing information, counselling, support, or referral to the young person to reach independence in all areas mentioned below:

  • Supporting the young person in finding a suitable place for accommodation and supporting in the renting process.

  • Supporting the young person in the development of everyday life skills (e.g.: cooking, cleaning, paying bills, financial management, taking care of accommodation…etc.)

  • Supporting the young person in finding a suitable education opportunity through education counseling.

  • Supporting the young person in entering decent employment or entrepreneurship through: education and capacity building opportunities to close the gap with labor market soft skills and technical skills needs/career guidance and coaching/support in building CVs / support in applying for jobs/support in preparing for interviews / facilitating job shadowing and internship and apprenticeship opportunities / linking with mentors / providing support for starting small businesses..etc.

  • Supporting the young person in finding and accessing health services and support, including mental health services.

  • Supporting the young person in finding and accessing legal support services, and knowledge of legal rights.

  • Supporting the young person in finding and accessing social services and community integration through the government or other service providers.

* The above requires constant direct contact with the young people in Semi-Independent Living as well as representatives of partner organizations and other social services.
* The above includes youth between 18-23 who integrated with their biological families at the age of 18 and above.

· Manage the money gift process for youth in SILP.

· Collaborate with the team in the preparation and implementation of transition plans for youth over 17 years of age.

· Work with graduates above the age of 23: Maintain updated databases. Lead on annual social gatherings. Provide graduates with information, referral, as well as support in emergency health situations (for graduates up to 35).

Partnership building and Advocacy

· Develop and maintain partnerships for education, capacity building, employability and employment for youth in SILP with governmental and non-governmental, and private entities.

· Act as the focal person with external partners related to youth in SILP, including but not limited to Al Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans and the MoSD.

· Joins relevant networks, platforms, campaigns, working groups, and advocates on behalf of the organization for the promotion and protection of careleavers. Participates in relevant national/international conferences.

Professional development

· Participates in forms of professional development organization by SOS.

Child Safeguarding (CS)

· Responsible to raise awareness of the SOS Child Protection Policy principles and protecting children from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence, and discrimination.

· Supports in organizing relevant preventive actions addressing existing and possible CS risks as identified by the CS risk assessment.

· Responsible to report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation, or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures.
