Duration: (17th July – 31st October)

Start date: ASAP

Remuneration: $350 – $500 per month, depending on level of experience and qualifications.

MAGENTA’s team operates across the globe, with offices in Jordan, Tunisia Mexico and Pakistan and operates on a range of projects that include research, strategy development, SBC intervention implementation, and evaluation.

In partnership with UNICEF Iraq, MAGENTA is designing and implementing a social behavioural campaign to encourage the enrolment of girls in schools by raising awareness throughout society including at the family level of the importance of girls’ education and combatting entrenched gender norms and traditions around the role of women and girls in the community. In parallel with the media campaign, MAGENTA will design a training guide on best practices in developing and implementing communications and social mobilisation activities.

MAGENTA is looking for (4) four focal point in each of the following governorates: Baghdad, Duhok, Erbil, and Basra.

Responsibilities

The focal point from each governorate will receive and engage in a multi-day training conducted by MAGENTA’s Programme Manager. This training will cover SBCC approaches, and how to deliver the campaign and social mobilization activities across each of the four governorates.

The focal points will revert to their governorates to conduct the same training for the social mobilization team (3-4 district level focal points)) and the district level focal points from the Directorate of Education. The focal point will be responsible for managing the social mobilization team during community outreach and implementation of the activities. The focal point will coordinate the team of social mobilizers to conduct outreach and monitor activities. They may also be required to implement outreach activities as needed and will provide ongoing support for monitoring. They will work closely with the Directorate of Education focal points to ensure sound and smooth implementation.

The focal points may be required to support with recruitment for the social mobilisation team therefore demonstrated strong personal networks and connections within their community is also key to the success of this role.

Requirements and Competencies

Education:

  • Relevant degree required.

Experience:

  • 5-8 years professional experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in education, youth, or social mobilisation.
  • In depth understanding of the individual, social and structural drivers of education enrolment.
  • Strong experience in project coordination.
  • Strong experience as a trainer/facilitator, and ability to mentor other trainers and facilitators.
  • Solid understanding of project management cycle.
  • Technological and software fluency.

Leadership

  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.

Culture:

  • Good sense of humour, personable and demonstrated ability to build networks.

Language:

  • Excellent written and spoken Arabic and/or Kurdish.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent travel is required
  • May involve working in areas that are remote and lack basic modern infrastructure
