JOB DESCRIPTION

Who we are looking for

NRC Jordan is looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and result-oriented profile who would be responsible for the management and review of existing projects, as well as support the development of new type of market-based interventions to support income generating opportunities for Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians.

An experienced project manager with experience implementing Livelihoods, economic recovery, market-based and financial inclusion programmes. Ability to set up new projects and manage a team is a requirement for this position.

The successful candidate should be a self-starter, highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills.

What you will do

The Livelihoods Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring timely and quality delivery and implementation of the Livelihoods project portfolio at area level. The roleholder will:

  • Contribute to Core Competency (CC) strategy development, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps, considering where appropriate the role of cash-based interventions and market based programmes.
  • Manage and implement delegated portfolio of livelihood projects (activities, budget, and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies, and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality.
  • Supervise budget lines of relevant activities and monitor expenditure including the preparation, monitoring, and updating of financial spending plans.
  • Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures and awareness of NRC global and regional strategies
  • Provide quality regular reports to the Area Manager and the Livelihood Specialist on project implementation
  • Provide regular progress reports to Area Manager and CC Specialist.
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities.
  • Team leadership – managing performance and development of project field staff through capacity building to ensure transfer key skills.
  • In coordination with the Livelihoods Specialist, contribute to strengthen the program by applying market systems analysis approach to identify needs and gaps in the market, engaging with the private sector, particularly in the field of the green sector (waste management and sustainable agriculture).
  • Coordinate with other livelihood actors in host, including regular and active attendance to the relevant coordination group, ensuring external representation for NRC Livelihoods programming in host area, as delegated by the Area Manager.
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.

What you will bring

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in implementing Livelihoods, economic recovery, market-based programmes, coordinating activities, and managing teams.
  • Specific experience and expertise in:
  • livelihoods, economic recovery, market-based programmes.
  • leading market analysis and working with private sector actors.
  • employability capacity building support, job-placement, entrepreneurship development activities, as well as financial inclusion programmes, such as facilitating saving groups, financial literacy training and digital finance tools.
  • coordination, networking and representation
  • leading staff and managing team performance
  • programme quality assessments, programme development and delivery.
  • experience from working in complex and volatile contexts, with preference for previous experience in the Middle East region.
  • Understanding of and commitment to:
  • integrated programming approaches
  • organisational learning, and the role and contribution of MEL to quality management and development.
  • working collaboratively with technical and operational colleagues within a matrix structure, including capacity strengthening.
  • University degree in a relevant social science discipline
  • Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal

What we offer

  • Duty station: Irbid Jordan
  • Contract: 12 months renewable based on funding and performance
  • Travel: Approximately 30% in-country travel mostly
  • Salary/benefits: Grade 8 on NRC’s national salary scale
