Our International Programme Division is currently recruiting for the position of Livelihood Coordinator for the Afghanistan office. The job holder will Assist in the development of an appropriate Food Security and Sustainable Livelihood intervention strategy within Afghanistan context that includes early recovery, disaster risk reduction and community development. S/he will lead a team of livelihood staff to ensure that the strategy is implemented to the highest quality standards and directly manage food security and livelihoods projects in the provision of technical support.

Key responsibilities

· Develop a thorough analysis of the food security and livelihoods situation through primary and secondary assessments and with due consideration for women and objectives of the programmes;

· Co-ordinate surveys and rapid assessments, including training, planning, analysis and report writing. Ensure appropriate field supervision is undertaken and that protocols are adhered to.

· Ensure the durability and sustainability element as important part in all IR livelihood interventions.

· Lead in using the findings of surveys and ongoing analysis to ensure optimal programme performance and design modifications as appropriate.

· Work with the Project Manager, Programme Coordinator and Officers to ensure coordination and coherence of IR work.

· Contribute to managing all the organization resources related to livelihood programme in coordination with the admin and logistics officer and other related partners

· Coordinate and network with other stakeholders to promote appropriate humanitarian and development programming within the framework of IR’s Food Security and Livelihood policies. This includes attending and engaging with relevant coordination meetings.

The successful candidate must have:

· a degree in agriculture, animal science, or other discipline that provides an understanding of food security and livelihood programming.

· Proven practical experience in food security assessments and nutritional surveys, cash for work-based interventions, agriculture and livestock interventions/ fisheries interventions/ small business / micro-credit interventions; market analysis.

· Experience of designing and implementing livelihood project proposals and concepts

· livelihood projects management experience including monitoring and evaluation
