Description And Requirements

Lenovo is seeking a talented and dynamic Legal Counsel for Lenovo’s Mobile Business Group (MBG). The position will report to the Legal Director of MBG and engage directly with MBG executives and their teams. The position is strongly preferred to be located in Chicago, IL or Morrisville, NC areas.

Responsibilities will include providing strategic legal advice and counsel to global business teams in areas such as strategic alliances, product development, complex transactions, corporate secretary matters and regulatory compliance. Further, the Business Unit (BU) Attorney will act as an interface and liaison to MBG for other corporate legal functions such as litigation, IP, ethics and compliance, data privacy, marketing, contracting center of excellence and government relations as well as regional legal teams. The candidate should be knowledgeable in the mechanics and economics of the electronics manufacturing business and be proactive in offering advice and opinions on business and legal issues in order to assist in driving the business owners to achieve desired results. Candidate is expected to grow into a role where they are seen as a trusted business advisor and team member pursuing key global business initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

• JD
• 7+ yrs law firm or in-house experience
• Possess knowledge on a variety of legal topics relevant to a technology business, including IP, software, licensing, regulatory, compliance, data privacy, complex transactions and alliances.
• Ability to balance risk allocation and develop mitigation strategies
• Strong and confident communication skills, with the ability advocate legal positions, and simplify complex legal issues into coherent, actionable business requirements
• Experience engaging with senior executives of a large multi-national corporation
• Experience engaging with colleagues and clients globally

Preferred:

• Business, or technical product background a plus
• Excellent collaboration, project facilitation and negotiation skills
• Willingness to learn and get involved with a variety of legal issues
• Combination of in-house and outside counsel experience
