Lecturer (EF) in Health Data Science and Clinical AI (2 positions)

About The Roles

  • 3-Year Fixed Term, Full – Time appointments
  • $111K – $131K (+ 17% superannuation & leave loading)
  • 2 Positions available
  • Based at Kensington Campus, Sydney, NSW

UNSW’s Education Focussed roles (EF) enable academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students. Those who are appointed to this prestigious specialism will be expected to successfully drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities.

This position will perform a significant role in teaching the undergraduate, postgraduate and professional development courses in Health Data Science and Clinical AI that are offered by the UNSW Centre for Big Data Research in Health (CBDRH). This position will contribute to designing, developing and delivering high-quality teaching offerings and resources that will aim to enhance the educational experience of students. The role of Lecturer reports to the CBDRH Director of Teaching Strategy and Innovation and has no direct reports.

Key Skills And Experience

  • A PhD in biostatistics, data science or computer science or a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience
  • Strong understanding of theory and methods relating to analysis of health and medical data to answer policy-relevant and clinical questions
  • Demonstrated experience in the practical application of advanced analytic methods (e.g., survival analysis, machine learning, visualisation) to large-scale health and medical data to answer policy relevant and clinical questions
  • Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and professional development
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at postgraduate level in a field related to Health Data Science and/or Clinical AI
  • Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g., relevant discipline-based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry or experience of work-integrated learning (desirable)
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives
