The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) is responsible for working collaboratively and communicating effectively with department members and Class or Subject teachers to ensure the needs of the pupils are met.The successful candidate will have a good understanding of how to support learning and also how to relate to pupils of all ages to engage them in their learning. The LSA is responsible for raising the standards of education attainment, of an individual student or/and a specific group of students.Key ResponsibilitiesTo provide support to students in overcoming barriers to learning.Maintain professional records and appropriate casework notes in relation to individual students.Liaise with parents/carers to follow up on absences Ensuring that the school attendance policy is always adhered to.Work in partnership with the Line Manager on attendance initiatives.Ability to show initiative when supporting pupils in classWork with children and families to offer support at an early intervention level.Daily interaction with parents and external agencies.Attend safeguarding meetings and ensure that all Safeguarding Training is up to date and in line with the schools Child Protection and Safeguarding policy.Develop positive, supportive relationships with pupils and teachersPromote pupil achievement through the use of differentiated strategies to support learningHave an understanding of a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.Proactive in all aspects of school life through participation and supportBe an ambassador of the school by demonstrating positive behaviour and willingness.Reliable and respectful at all times.Maintain the highest degree of discretion and confidentialityQualifications & Additional Skills RequirementsCandidates must have a two-year Diploma in Education or Special Education or a High School Diploma with training in the field of special education.Have excellent verbal and written communication skillsBe computer literate and competent in a range of Microsoft and web-based programsCandidate must be bilingual with good English communication skills.ExperienceMinimum two years experience in supporting children with additional needs in a school setting is required.
