The role

As a learning support assistant, you will be required to provide high level nurture and assistance to the pupils in your care. The school you will be working for carters for children with SEMH additional needs, this requires you to be able to work in a high-pressured environment in a calm and professional manner. Having previous experience dealing with challenging behaviours and situations is desirable as the job requires you to be able to deal with situations that may arise in a professional and calm manner to ensure the well being of the pupils is always put first.

The school

This school is a specialist provision catering for students mixed genders, aged 5-16 years, who require additional support for their leaning and development. Their needs are varied;

  • Emotional & social difficulties
  • ADHD
  • Challenging behaviour
  • History of placement breakdowns
  • Attachment disorders
  • Has an Education, Health & Care Plan

This is a mixed primary and secondary provision whose pupils are generally working below their age, some working at KS1/2 level others at KS3/4. The school offers many different intervention sessions to meet their pupils’ different needs such as, pastoral for behavioural support, speech and language, The Willow room who support the more vulnerable pupils, speech and language intervention and they also have school therapy dogs to promote the emotional well being of their pupils. As a learning support assistant, you may be required to partake in intervention sessions with your pupils, this will mean you will be involved in all aspects of your pupils learning and development journey.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
