As a Lead Usability Specialist at EPAM Global Research Institute / Research & Insights practice, you’ll embody a unique intersection of deep technical expertise, user-centered design acumen, and user research skills. We prioritize developing transformative products and services that are not only innovative but also intuitive, accessible, and easy to use. Your role will be integral to our mission of delivering user-centric experiences across a diverse range of platforms and sectors.

Our Research & Insights team is a multidisciplinary hub of experts situated in Europe, committed to influencing product strategy and design through actionable user insights. By implementing both standard and innovative UX research methods, we drive design decisions and strategic orientations that cater to both local and global markets.

Responsibilities

  • As a successful candidate, you will:
    • Lead and execute user research projects from scoping to delivery, using methods like interviews, surveys, usability tests, and data analysis
    • Advocate for the user throughout the design and development process, translating research insights into actionable recommendations
    • Use UX tools such as Figma and Sketch for prototyping, wireframing, and high-fidelity designs
    • Analyze user interactions and behaviours through metrics and KPIs, using analytical tools to inform and influence design decisions
    • Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, business analysts, product managers, and developers to implement and iterate on design solutions
    • Communicate research findings and design rationales effectively across various audiences, from team members to executives
    • Mentor junior staff in user research methodologies and design best practices
    • Stay up to date with research & UX trends, tools, and technologies, actively participating in continuous learning and professional development
    • Contribute to the team’s knowledge base by publishing articles, whitepapers, or presentations on usability engineering and user research methodologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Design, or a related field
  • 5 years of professional experience in usability engineering, user research, and/or UX design, preferably in an agency with diverse projects
  • Fluent in both German and English (at least C1 level)
  • Proficiency in standard research methodologies like interviews, surveys, usability testing, and A/B testing
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of research projects, preferably in a variety of sectors
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly when explaining insights and ideas to non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience in Accessibility, experience in the banking sector
