The Need

After almost 25 years of continued growth and operational success in pioneering the work of protecting those who are experiencing poverty from violence, IJM has become a $100+ million organization. As IJM continues this trajectory of growth and scaling of its impact, with the Vision to protect 500 million people by the year 2030, IJM’s Indonesia Field Office is seeking a Lead, Survivor Services.

This position is based at IJM’s Indonesia Field Office in Jakarta and reports to the Field Office Director, Indonesia.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Management:

  • Design, implement, monitor, and evaluate strategies and best practices for effective survivor care towards restoration;
  • Ensure full compliance of IJM Indonesia program and activities with IJM’s Global Survivor Services Policy; and
  • Ensure full implementation of IJM Indonesia grant obligations regarding survivor services and trauma informed care development.

Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation:

  • In collaboration with IJM partners, facilitate survivor services that result in survivors of forced labor trafficking being rescued, provided with appropriate care and services, and restored;
  • Provide, facilitate and/or monitor crisis care, counseling, language interpretation, medical care, shelter services, repatriation assistance and education or life skills training to survivors in accordance with individually assessed needs;
  • Educate, network, train and equip government and non-government partners in effective practices including trauma-informed approach towards restoration of survivors;
  • Ensure that all IJM and IJM partner-assisted survivors receive legally-mandated Indonesian government protections and social services;
  • Develop and implement cooperation strategies with relevant officials, Ministries, task forces, and other government social services institutions;

  • Assess government and non-government survivor care services and practices to identify gaps and opportunities for development, and build program development strategies accordingly;

  • Engage, prepare and support IJM assisted survivors for testifying in court in partnership with IJM partners and other IJM staff; and

  • Generate timely, high quality written and verbal reports and other communications to office and regional leadership.

Networking & Partnership:

  • Build relationships of mutual trust and benefit, and develop and maintain strategic and mutually supportive partnerships, with government and non-government partners, in Indonesia and in survivor home countries, to support holistic restoration services for IJM survivor services participants;
  • Build and equip a network of survivor services partners in Indonesia to ensure the well-being and restoration of IJM assisted survivors, including providing referrals for special services, visiting survivors, monitoring care, assisting with emergencies, and collecting relevant data;
  • Build connections to survivor services partners, including other IJM offices where possible, in priority labor sending countries, supporting continuity of care during and after repatriation and facilitating collaboration and data sharing throughout.*General Accounting & Statutory Compliance:*

  • Develop and manage the budget for survivor care services and related capacity building, spending funds according to IJM’s budgetary and stewardship principles.

General tasks:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, IJM policies and best practices;
  • Update and use IJM’s casework tracking systems and other data collection, monitoring and evaluation tools;
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Field Office Director

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field from an accredited university;
  • Master’s degree preferred;
  • Minimum six years’ relevant experience providing direct services to victims of abuse and/or case management; and
  • Experience working with victims of human trafficking or on human trafficking issues preferred.

Technical Competencies:

  • Effective communication that enhances productivity and facilitates positive workplace relationships and mutual relationship with stakeholders;
  • Strong critical thinking, writing and verbal communication skills in English and Indonesian; and
  • Effective presentation and training skills.
