About the Unit

Yara aims to be the crop nutrition company for the future and is leading the development of sustainable agriculture and digital tools to contribute to solving global agricultural challenges. We have a worldwide presence with sales teams in ~150 countries and around 17,000 employees.

Drawing on over a century of crop nutrition experience, Yara established the Digital Farming unit – now Digital Ag Solutions (DAS) – 4 years ago to explore how technology could be used to impact farmer livelihoods and productivity. Today, DAS has built products for smallholder and professional farmers, retailers and other farming ecosystem stakeholders across Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of software engineers across different technologies.
  • Oversee the individual development needs of each engineer and ensure they are challenged and given scope to leverage and grow their strengths.
  • Coordinate with product teams within the group to ensure that engineers are working on the right projects.
  • Increasing performance and productivity of the team by raising ideas on how to improve team internal processes and collaboration
  • Be the technical go-to person in your team for technical and non-technical topics and stakeholders
  • Drive an engineering culture of quality, good development principles, and innovation from inside your team
  • Strategic technical involvement on a team level in the OKR process, hiring strategy, and team setup
  • Find, screen, and develop new people as needed to support the needs of the digital team.
  • Mentoring engineers in your team and fostering the technical growth of your direct reports with/by pair programming, knowledge sharing, and coaching

Profile

  • A degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or have similar, extensive hands-on experience.
  • Previous proven experience leadership experience.
  • 2+ years of experience building, scaling up, and leading engineering teams.
  • Experience in mentoring team members and providing feedback.
  • Strong experience working with: TypeScript, Node.js, and ReactJS.
  • Proficient experience building scalable, high-availability UI applications.
  • Experience with webpack module federation and micro-frontend architectures.
  • Strong experience working with tools such as AWS, Github, CircleCI, Jira, and Docker.
  • Understanding and use of agile digital principles and development team strategies including challenges and common issues.
