About the role

Frontline AIDS is seeking a dynamic new Communications Lead to spearhead our external communications work at a critical time for Frontline AIDS and for the global HIV response.

The successful candidate will have strong expertise and insights into how to communicate with impact through a broad mix of external channels, including web, social, publications and through the media. We are seeking an inspirational leader who can inspire enthusiasm and passion in their team and across our organisation, by bringing our brand and messaging to life and by creating an environment of openness and trust. They will be strong on strategy and delivery with a clear understanding of how to measure impact on different audiences, and will bring creativity and innovation to their work.

As a line manager, they will be committed to fostering a high-performance culture and are able to delegate thoughtfully in order to give colleagues real accountability and authority. The Communications Lead must also have an understanding of the communications approaches that are needed in a global partnership, with a passion for working with civil society partners around the world in order to amplify their voices, along with a strong commitment to Frontline AIDS goal of becoming an anti-racist organisation.

Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of a rolling Frontline AIDS communications strategy which maximises the contribution of the communications function to our Global Plan of Action. You will a) work with colleagues to define the objectives, outcomes and associated outputs of the Communications Team in response to the organisation’s changing needs and ways of working; b) align communications plans with the workplans for key focus areas, particularly Global Advocacy, Income, Partnerships; c) work with your team and colleagues across the organisation to develop innovative, ‘disruptive’ and high-impact communications and advocacy campaigns for Frontline AIDS channels, including building the communications capacity and advocacy profile of key individuals and teams; d) build and strengthen relationships with Frontline AIDS’ partners around the world in order to enable work on joint communications and advocacy campaigns; and e) actively engage with sector-wide stakeholders to share/promote our commitments to becoming an anti-racist organisation and ‘doing development differently’, and ensure that the communications team is contributing to the success of these ways of working in its values, approaches and activities.

About us

We’ve been on the frontline of the world’s response to HIV and AIDS for over 27 years, working with marginalised people who are denied HIV prevention and treatment simply because of who they are and where they live.

We know we can make the difference. We know that together we are greater than AIDS.

Our cultural philosophy is that Action Makes the Difference. The attitudes and approach we take at work are guided by our organisational values – Freethinker, Inspired by Difference and Firestarter – and their associated behaviours. Knowing what is expected of us every day helps Frontline AIDS to be a great place to work.

Are you the Frontliner we’re looking for?

You will promote best practice within your field of expertise and challenge ways of working to ensure the highest quality and levels of efficiency. Your actions will be aligned with Frontline AIDS vision and you will inspire the same behaviour in your peers.
