LAND AND FORESTS COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

WRI’s Forests Program works with governments, entrepreneurs, and civil society to sustain forests for future generations. We aim to curb deforestation worldwide and help restore and reforest already-cleared land. We support radical transparency and open access to the latest data and cutting-edge monitoring technology, so that all actors can be held accountable for actions that impact forests. We produce groundbreaking research to shed light on important forest issues and aid in better decision-making.

Internship Highlight:

In this role, you will be working with the Communications, Engagement, Digital and Research teams to produce promotional content and activities to support two anchor moments in the LCL calendar: the 2023 Land & Carbon Lab Summit and the launch of the Tree Cover Loss in 2022 data, one of our major annual data releases.

You will be supported by the Land & Forests communications team and will report to the Communications Manager, Forests.

 

What you will do:

Tree Cover Loss Data Release (60%):

  • Writing: Work with colleagues to draft media talking points and content for various channels including blogs, website and email content, social media messaging, and other comms outputs as needed
  • Strategy: Provide input into language and messaging for social media platforms, press releases and media talking points, website content, and other channels
  • Multimedia: Work with colleagues and graphic designers to support development of infographics, data visualizations, videos and other multimedia comms outputs.

Land & Carbon Lab Summit Outreach (40%):

  • Support the communications and planning for the 2023 Land & Carbon Lab Summit, a large in-person international conference
  • Tasks may include updating the conference website, drafting speaker/VIP communications, and providing input into strategy to attract and reach attendees.

 

What you will need:

  • Education: Undergraduate student in a related field of mass communication, public relations, sustainability or environmental studies
  • Experience: 0–1 year experience working in public relations, journalism, communications (preferably social/non-profit sector) desirable
  • Languages: Ability to communicate fluently in English
  • Requirements: You must have student status and be enrolled at university for the entire duration of the internship.

 

Conditions of the internship:

  • This is a 4-6 month internship with a start date of 13 March 2022
  • This internship will be based at the WRI Europe office in the Hague with some flexibility to work from home
  • This internship offers a reimbursement of 350 euros per month based on full-time working hours
  • Interns will be provided with a laptop.
