About Us: The Syrian American Medical Society Foundation (SAMS) is a nonprofit, non-partisan, non-religious medical relief organization, with a mission to provide lifesaving healthcare services and to revitalize health systems for underprivileged Syrian refugees, internally displaced persons, and vulnerable host community members in zones of conflict and displacement. This is done by implementing an integrated model of essential services that emphasize priority needs, including the delivery of medical education, training, and financial support to physicians and other healthcare workers in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, and Iraq. Along with the provision of healthcare services and medical training, the SAMS Foundation also implements mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programs, as well as protection against gender-based violence (GBV).

General Objective of The Position: Planning, organizing and carrying out laboratory activities and supervising the laboratory staff, in order to support the SAMS medical team in the diagnosis of patients’ diseases.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project planning and follow-up, and reviewing the laboratory budget when necessary, in order to support SAMS medical activities.
  • Ensure the compliance with SAMS protocols.
  • Create regular reports to SAMS management on all lab related activities, including information about number of tests performed, and on any issues / problems related to laboratory personnel and / or the material used.
  • Perform laboratory test and carry out sample collection ensuring that quality control tests are carried out regularly.
  • Informing the doctor of the results of the tests and keeping a record of the analysis with data from patients.
  • Ensure proper management (cleaning, maintenance, arranging) of all laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure adequate supply of needed equipment and material in order to prevent stock-outs, request material and equipment if needed.
  • Ensuring that no material is taken out of the laboratory without prior authorization.
  • Carrying out a proper storage system and condition.
  • Ensuring that cold chain is properly maintained for both samples and reagents.
  • Inform staff of existing biological risks.
  • Participate in HC meetings at the camp level and at the country level when needed.
  • Keeping patients’ health-related issues confidential.
  • Any other duties related to the work assigned to it by the direct manager.

Mandatory Qualifications Required:

  • Master Degree in Laboratory Sciences.
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience.
  • Active Jordanian medical licenses from MOH.

Competencies:

  • Excellent written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and team management.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Languages:

  • Fluency written and spoken in Arabic.
  • Fluency written and spoken English.
