Key Requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed data manager to work within the Prostate Targeted therapy Group and Drug Development Unit which undertake both investigator- and industry-sponsored early phase clinical trials of new anticancer drugs. We are a world leading clinical trials unit with a dedicated ward within the Royal Marsden Hospital for the development of novel cancer therapeutics for advanced prostate cancer which is improving the care of cancer patients.

The post holder will be educated to at least degree level in life sciences/nursing, with a good understanding of the cancer research, the conduct of oncology clinical trials and database development. They must be able to communicate with the clinical, lab and biomedical teams to ensure tumour is collected and recorded according to study protocol requirements and in accordance with ICH-GCP.

The post holder must be highly organised, computer proficient and able to plan work around a busy clinical unit. They should have excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with unit staff.

Department/Directorate Information

The Cancer Biomarkers Team within the Division of Clinical Studies primarily focuses on biomarker-driven clinical research, providing innovative platforms towards understanding the mechanisms of cancer biology and drug resistance that are matched with genomic data. Biomarker-specific assays and methodologies, once established and standardised by the team, are used in a clinical environment to understand the complex biology of cancer cells.

The team supports the clinical research conducted by the Drug Development Unit (DDU), the Prostate Cancer Targeted Therapy Group and multiple other clinical trials within The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust DDU. The Cancer Biomarkers Team plays a vital role in Experimental Cancer Medicine Centres (ECMC)/Cancer Research UK-funded research, where the assays and processes developed by the Cancer Biomarkers Team are shared with other ECMC centres.
