Lab Technician | Universal American School | Dubai

About The Role

To provide support, technical, practical and administrative assistance to enable the teaching staff to concentrate on the provision of a high standard of Science lab education in line with the curriculum

IB Or AP Experience Is Preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up of apparatus and equipment for practical lessons
  • Ensure the solutions are prepared to proper concentration
  • Assist during practical classroom lesson inside the lab
  • Responsibility for ensuring the return of equipment etc. to storage after checking and cleaning
  • Adhere to recognised international guidelines when moving, storing and disposing of materials
  • Responsibility for the control of stock of materials and equipment, ordering and taking delivery of chemical supplies, equipment, stationary and other resources
  • Routine maintenance of equipment to ensure a safe and orderly working environment
  • Assist in annual Lab Budget forecast and planning
  • To ensure safe working practices always and keep up to date regarding Health & Safety and new equipment
  • Lab safety regulations are posted on the lab wall
  • Appropriate safety procedures within the teaching environment observed and concerns reported to the Head of Department
  • Keep updated with the latest trends on Lab experiments and equipment
  • Other duties as required by the Secondary science coordinator

About The Person

  • Bachelor Degree in Science related subject
  • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience with preference in a school
  • IB Or AP Experience is preferred
