KOBO Toolbox Trainer – Syria

Background:

Under the umbrella of DKH’s Capacity Building Initiative Asia (CBIA) Program that aims at enhancing the capacities of DKH partners in the region, an emerging need to support the partners in training, mentoring, and coaching has risen. Complying with the Core Humanitarian Standards and its indicators, alongside the commitments listed in the Charter for Change, strengthening partners’ capacities, and forming a stronger partnership spirit in the humanitarian assistance field is of crucial value. This assignment will directly contribute to building the capacities of DKH Asia partner’s staff, by equipping them with the technical and practical knowledge to grow the organization and programs which should ultimately improve the delivery of services to the most vulnerable people in their respective countries.

Position Summary:

DKH’s Regional Office West and Central Asia is seeking to hire a KOBO Toolbox expert and trainer to facilitate a 3-day training on utilizing KOBO Toolbox software for the Partner’s field team staff to ensure proper data collection, analysis, and usage. The Trainer is also expected to conduct a basic assessment to specify the main areas of focus and to customize the training package to cover the needs of the Partner’s mandate in managing data with the most efficient manner.

The objective of the assignment is to provide technical training to optimize the utilization of the features offered by the KOBO Toolbox by directly working with the designated staff of the Partner’s field staff and MEAL officers.

The Trainer’s tasks will be:

  1. Conduct a technical assessment to identify the main functions on which the training will focus.
  2. Design a practical and interactive training package according to the functions that were identified in the assessment exercise.
  3. Facilitate a two-to-three-day training including pre and post assessment surveys that measure the impact of the training qualitatively and quantitatively.
  4. Report on the training outcomes and steps taken to achieve the objectives.

Stakeholders and Workshop Attendees:

GOPA-DERD’s staff including Field Engineers, MEAL Officers, and other related field staff. Selected staff from DKH will also be attending the training.

Scheduling:

DKH expects to commence the mission as of March 2023.

Language:

Training language is Arabic. All reports are to be submitted to DKH in English.

Timeline:

10 days of effort from signing the agreement, excluding travel days.

Deliverables:

1. Technical Assessment (2 – 3 days of effort)

  • In coordination with the assigned focal point from GOPA-DERD, conduct a technical assessment to identify the main areas of focus.
  • Summarize the main focus areas as a reference for the training package design

2. Training (4 – 5 days of effort including preparation)

  • Training methodology must be well explained in the technical proposal. Illustrating clear steps for training and evaluation.
  • Handouts, if any, must be included in the Workshop Package Material
  • Pre and post survey templates
  • Conduct 2 to 3 days of coaching and facilitation of activities as to be agreed on upon signing the agreement

3. Training Report (1 – 2 days of effort including revisions)

  • Submit the workshop’s full narrative report on all activities commenced.
  • Obtain acceptance in writing from DKH on the completion of the consultancy.

The proposalmustinclude:

  • Consultant’s motivational letter
  • Consultant’s updated CV – including a concise summary of relevant competencies and previous relevant experiences.
  • Technical Proposal including technical methodology (must not exceed 5 pages).
  • Proposed daily rate inclusive of all taxes.

Required Competencies:

  • Solid experience in MEAL and Information Management.
  • Flexibility in customizing training contents for the needs.
  • Well aware of potential challenges facing data collection and management, and their mitigation.
  • Ability to travel to Syria without any restrictions. Preferably residing in Syria or allowed to stay and work in Syria.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English.

Budget Proposal

Proposed budget should indicate the daily rate for a maximum of 10 days of effort, distributed according to the deliverables mentioned above. Logistical arrangements for the mission must not be included in the budget proposal, as they will be reimbursed separately, if any. The daily rate must be inclusive of all taxes in compliance to the Jordanian Sales and Income Tax laws. Payment of the contract will be released in EUR or in the local currency via bank transfer according to the payment schedule to be determined in the contractual agreement within 30 days from submission of the invoice.
