A new project in Beirut-The Olive Branch Social Space

The main objective of the project is to promote social cohesion and fostering peace building in a difficult area that is affected by sectarian politics, competition for scarce resources, lack of opportunity for the youth, gender inequality, intercommunal violence, and criminality. We provide several activities to local population regardless of nationality, ethnicitiy, religion or gender.

1. Psychotherapy (individual and group sessions) to victims of trauma due to the multiple crisis that are affecting lebanon

2. English lessons to teenagers and adults

3. Photojournalism course for teenagers

4. Fitness/relaxation sessions for women

Job Purpose

The Junior Project Project Manager will be responsible for the technical quality, timely implementation and monitoring of the delegated project portfolio, ensuring alignment with project outcomes, strategy and design. The following is a brief description of the role.

What you will do:

  • Coordinate and manage project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) while ensuring that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and assess new and better ways to assist in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
  • Provide technical direction and take responsibility for overall progress and achievement of key objectives within the following parameters: time, cost, scope, benefits and risk.
  • Coordinate preparation of work plans and progress reports for Olive branch teams
  • Contribute to the funding proposals, project budgets and donor reports
  • Develop, manage and monitor project budget
  • Oversee management of ICLA implementing partners, ensuring harmonized approach to partnership across ICLA’s portfolio in line with NRC policy, guidance notes and tool-kits
  • Create partnerships with local NGOs
  • Liaise and maintain strong relationships with local partners, relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
  • Regularly gather information on relevant laws, policies, and practices operative in Lebanon teams and humanitarian partners have access to such information.
  • Contribute to identification of trends in conditions/standards and donor priorities and assess better ways to assist beneficiaries
  • Provide regular progress reports to project manager and Salam LADC board
  • Develop and ensure implementation of ICLA case management and Monitoring & Evaluation tools

Professional Competencies and Qualifications Required

These are skills, knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance.

  • An undergraduate university degree in International relations, project cycle management or similar degrees are strongly preferred. Other degrees may be considered if the candidate has a sufficiently strong background in humanitarian related work.
  • .Understanding of Project Cycle Management. We do not require a lot of experience in managing a project since this will be a junior positon. However, candidates with relevant experience will be preferred.
  • Documented technical competences and results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the Lebanese context highly desirable
  • Experience in advocacy and working in complex politically humanitarian context
  • Experience of working in consortia and with donors (ECHO, FCDO, etc.)
  • Excellent coordination, communication (verbal and written) and networking skills
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile with ability to exercise cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent command in Microsoft Applications
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Arabic will be considered an important asset

Salary is 300$ per month plus accomodation.

Additional Information:

Duty Station: Beirut

Duration of contract: Fixed term 12 Months (with possibility of renewal)

Reports to: Project Manager, Salam LADC board

Provides supervision to: Project Staff
