Salary: £21,798 to £27,000 (Grade 6- Officer/Senior Assistant)
Position type: Fixed Term for 12-months, Full Time, 37.5 hours per week. Flexible working will be considered.

We can also consider remote working (within the UK only) with the ability to travel to Truro when required.
Role purpose:
This is an exciting time at ShelterBox and, as we grow, our Procurement team is crucial to ensuring we’re equipped with the supply infrastructure we need to work, fundraise, budget, manage data, and ultimately deliver vital aid.
The Junior Buyer will join a busy and dynamic Procurement team and will quickly become integral to the day-to-day running of the Procurement function. It is expected that the individual will have previous procurement experience and will be involved in a variety of tasks and projects covering all aspects of the procurement cycle.
Who are we looking for?
ShelterBox is seeking a proactive individual with procurement (or similar transferable) experience to add capacity to the team. Attention to detail and diligence will be at the forefront of your skillset and you’ll need to be comfortable with numbers, data, and sensitively posing challenging questions to understand business requirements.
We are looking for someone with great communications skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks with competing deadlines. The individual should be confident with developing and maintaining relationships both internally with other departments and externally with suppliers.
Charity experience is appreciated, but we welcome applicants with appropriate experience in any sector.
Main role and responsibilities
Support the Procurement Team and the wider organisation through acting as the first point of contact for all procurement-related queries. Build on existing knowledge of Procurement and Supply through independently carrying out low value tendering and preparing business cases for review by senior colleagues for more complex or higher spend purchases.
Training will be given.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- With support from the Procurement Manager, manage and set the strategy for allocated categories
- Plan, lead and appropriately document tender processes for allocated categories, with support from the Procurement Manager where agreed.
- Create Business Cases including recommendations for supplier selection for new, non-routine purchase for review by the Procurement Manager.
- Develop supplier relationships through effective supplier relationship management.
- Participate in relevant Working Groups as agreed with the Procurement Manager.
- First point of contact for all procurement-related queries for other teams.
- Train new starters on procurement systems and processes.
- Support others in the team with preparation of contracts, monitoring of tender responses or projects, as required.
- Maintain the Contracts Register and supplier records.
- Carry out due diligence on potential suppliers and partners using relevant tools.
- Maintain commercial confidence, and exercise discretion with sensitive information.
