The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Junior Associate, EmoDemos,(CASCADE) to support with project implementation of various activities such as training of facilitators, monitoring, supervision visits, reporting of activities and support in day-to-day activities for the realization of the implementations and the reaching of the target population in the project.

This role will be offered on a full-time permanent basis, subject to availability of funding. This position will be based in Nacala, Nampula Province, Mozambique.

Applicants will ideally be based in the Nacala district or in one of the surrounding districts in the Nampula province and be available to commence in post by late September – early October 2022.

About GAIN

GAIN is a Swiss-based foundation that was launched in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition.

About the Role

The Catalyzing Strengthened Policy Action for Healthy Diets and Resilience (CASCADE) is a five-year project that aims at improving food security and contribute to reduction of malnutrition among women of reproductive age (15-49) and children under five years in Mozambique. The Junior Associate will work under the supervision of the Project Manager, CACSCADE to support with setting up and delivery of training sessions, procurement of materials, monitoring data collection and reporting activities carried out among other duties.

Key responsibilities include.

  • Participating in the organisation and delivery of training sessions (Jogo das Heroínas and EmoDemos) for relevant target audiences, including supporting with facilitating the delivery of training of trainers’ sessions (TOT) for supervisors, area leaders and nutrition officers.
  • Assisting in procurement and purchase of materials/props, and their distribution and organization to the districts.
  • Assisting in logistics and facilitation of project workshops.
  • Overseeing data collection related to implemented activities.
  • Reporting on the activities carried out and identify gaps and propose solutions for interventions follow-up.
  • Assisting in office management duties, including (collecting original proof of payments and prepare for submission to the GAIN Mozambique’s central office in Maputo, request quotes and carry out other office related tasks.

About You

The ideal candidate should have proven experience in a similar project administration, office support or coordination role preparing, implementing and assessing community work, trainings and mentorships and ability to work with low-literate population groups, including adults and adolescents. Fluency in Portuguese and Emakuwa is essential whilst the ability to speak and write in English would be an added advantage.

The postholder should have experience carrying out basic logistic activities for implementation of field activities (quantification of materials, setting up training sessions and facilitating training of the trainers’ sessions (TOT) and must be experienced in data collection and reporting.

The post holder should possess excellent interpersonal and coordination skills and must be computer literate in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint among others. A Bachelor’s degree in social sciences and / or equivalent working experience would be an advantage.

About our Offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is from USD 14, 894 – USD 17,037 per annum, depending on experience.
