Plan International

Plan international – The Organisation

Established in 2016 in response to the Syrian crisis, Plan International Jordan (PI) has been actively involved in humanitarian efforts in Jordan, initially focusing on Azraq Camp and later expanding to host communities. With its headquarters in Amman, PI also operates in Azraq Camp, specifically in Villages 2, 3, and 5, where it maintains one center in V2, another in V3, and two centers in V5. PI addresses the needs of refugees and vulnerable members of the host population through a variety of ongoing projects. In Jordan, PI’s response is multi-sectoral, supporting at-risk host communities and refugee populations. PI targets children, adolescents, and youth, as well as their parents/caregivers, the larger community, service providers, and national policy. PI’s programs are community-based and child- and youth-centered, emphasizing participation and empowerment. This approach is consistent with local collaboration, as PI works closely with local organizations and government ministries.

The programming in Jordan is aligned with Plan International’s Country Strategy 2020-2024, which aims to empower children, particularly girls, in areas including education, early childhood development, youth employment opportunities, sexual and reproductive health and rights, child protection, and gender-based violence prevention. PI’s projects particularly focus on the most vulnerable adolescents, addressing issues such as early marriage and child labour. PI is also developing a new Country Strategy for 2025-2029, guided by Plan International’s global strategy and the concept of the triple nexus, bridging the humanitarian-development divide. This strategy aligns with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, focusing on ‘ending needs’ through collaborative humanitarian and development efforts to achieve collective outcomes.

Background about the project

PI will provide structured recreational Psychosocial Support (PSS) activities in V2 and V5, providing safe spaces for children and adolescents to express their feelings and concerns.
