IT Infrastructure Engineer

Role Title: IT Infrastructure Engineer

Job/Role Purpose: Develop, implement, and administer systems and networks which deliver a high-quality information technology and digital service to enable VSO staff, volunteers, and partners operate effectively.

Task Responsibilities

Ensure that VSO’s IT infrastructure services and components are secure by design and meet all their agreed capacity and availability targets.

Monitor and report on infrastructure performance, events, and network traffic.
Conduct maintenance of systems to protect data from unauthorized access.

Specify, implement, develop, and administer systems to manage operating system imaging, patch management and automated application distribution.
Install and maintain effective local and wide are networks across VSO.
Implement and manage technical infrastructure for disaster recovery and data recovery procedures, including data backups.
Propose system designs, specifications and technical documentation for new infrastructure that improves VSO productivity, efficiency, and service quality.
Regularly Identify, report, and escalate data security and information protection risks across the VSO network, work with stakeholders to develop and implement mitigation plans.
Provide 2nd and 3rd line specialist technical support for IT infrastructure at VSO offices worldwide.

Competence required.

Essential:

Substantial experience of dealing with technical issues, problem resolution and third parties.
Experience of working as a key contributor on technically complex IT projects.
Experience gained supporting remote networks and infrastructure, preferably in an international context.
Substantial working knowledge of: Microsoft Entra & Intune Device Management, both mobile OS and Windows 10 via Autopilot Azure Compute services, including VM and webapp management
Working with PowerShell and Windows server estate including Active Directory
Windows 10/11 workstation management, including Office package Office 365 services and applications.
Meraki Security and Wireless networking
Backup and recovery applications and associated procedures
