The Opportunity – IT Assistant

Post location: Gaza Field Office

Contract Duration and Level of Effort: 1 year with the possibility of extension based on availability of funding.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Responsible for IT services, implement IT management systems, and provides daily technical support to users on information management tools and technology infrastructure for all staff in the Gaza Field Office, and ensure delivery of high quality IT services that capture, and enable the storage and processing of data. This will include responding to IT support requests via the helpdesk system, email, phone, or verbal reports, troubleshooting, and performing assigned IT projects as well as preventing and rapidly responding to potential IT problems with line manager’s or supervisor’s directives.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: IT Coordinator

Staff directly reporting to this post: None

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Provide IT support services:

  • Provide client support and technical issue resolution via SCI helpdesk system or Email.
  • Oversee IT Tickets to ensure timely delivery of SLA and support
  • Ensure IT services are accessible and equipped with current hardware and software.
  • Identify and prepare hardware and software for new joiners.
  • Maintain physical security to IT equipment and offices.
  • Assist and Ensure the IT policies and procedures are enforced.
  • Experience in Windows environment, , and Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint)
  • Experience in VSAT internet installing and configuring
  • Installing, Repairing and replacing IT equipment as necessary.
  • Assist and Identify to prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate and ensure the hardware is stripped and secured before disposal and should be disposed of following SCI/donor guidelines.
  • Assist to carry out routine checks on IT equipment to prevent their damage due to improper connections and operations or adverse acts of computer viruses.
  • Following up on all inquiries in collaboration with the IT Coordinator.

Provides administrative support, focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Maintenance of an up-to-date inventory of the software and hardware.
  • Maintenance of the inventory and stock of supplies and spare parts in cooperation with the Administration and Procurement Team.

Other

  • Other projects as defined by the HRAM.
  • Be prepared to vary day to day activities and work pattern/hours in humanitarian response situations.
  • Position holder may be required to outside of normal duties and working hours during emergency responses.

In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, information technology (IT) or relevant fields.
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in a similar IT role, preferably in an INGO.
  • Good knowledge of PC/LAN operating systems, Microsoft Windows, corporate ICT security and viral protection systems,
  • Ability to provide IT support services including IT hardware/ infrastructure support, ,.
  • Excellent working knowledge of IT threat assessment, risk mitigation and ability to work on acceptance strategy at all levels.
  • Ability to work simultaneously with multiple tasks, willingness, and ability to work efficiently with a wide diverse group of people
  • Working ability with tight deadlines and in a fast-growing program environment
  • Working level of English communication is required.
  • Good sense of judgment in client satisfaction and end users services

Desirable:

  • Advanced Experience in Cloud Computing.
  • Experience in Computa+
  • Experience in MFA
