The private assets department manage a range of different funds and products for institutional clients and have a rapidly growing business. This role is as a investment specialist within the Specialty Finance team focusing primarily on the SFF and Income funds strategies that make up our consumer finance strategy. The role has two main areas of focus: aiding with the delivery of profitable growth for the Specialty Finance team and investment strategy articulation both internally and to clients.
The Specialty Finance team focuses entirely on investing in whole loans or structured finance opportunities across the consumer finance universe. Consumer finance is a substantial and diversified asset class which is comprised of loans and credit provided directly to consumers, rather than to businesses and companies. These loans are typically grouped into two main categories: residential mortgages (owner-occupied and buy-to-let) and consumer loans (including unsecured personal loans, auto loans, student loans and credit card receivables).
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for articulating the investment strategy, answering of investment related queries and creating investment content either directly or in conjunction with fund managers, marketing and investment writing teams.
- To act as an investment team point of contact and representative for distribution, investment marketing, and press teams
- Work closely with placement agents assisting them with all fund raising efforts
- Represent the fund managers to internal and external audiences
- To understand the requirements of the distribution team in terms of fund manager support and to work closely with them in coordinating and participating in new business pitches and fund update meetings
- To help design product solutions for large clients
- Ownership of investment collateral such as fund profiles and presentation materials
- To generate ideas for investment communications, taking into account feedback provided by the distribution team and the fund management team
- Communicate to investment writers and RFP specialists about the funds and products to determine approach for completing RFPs and review the documents.
- Write original Reports/RFP answers and review investment content where required
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- A strong client focus with experience working with institutional pension fund and insurance clients
- Strong interpersonal skills – able to build good relationships and establish credibility with clients, fund managers and the key contacts in the distribution channels
- Strong communication and presentation skills – able to communicate the investment messages to a range of audiences
- In depth investment experience ideally with a focus on structure credit
- Able to absorb the philosophy and investment focus of our fund range and represent those products internally and externally
- Proactive nature – able to anticipate future requirements, and also determine information which may be of interest to distribution channels
- Perceptive – able to understand requirements and provide relevant information with excellent listening skills
- Good organisational skills – able to manage and meet different deadlines and priorities from different sources, ensure timeliness of delivery
