DIME’s internship program seeks for people who have different profiles to support the team in different areas of the organization. The applicants will be matched to an area or program based on their motivations, interests, previous experiences, academic background and skills. At DIME, we recognize the importance of diversity within our team and encourage applications from candidates of different backgrounds and profiles.

Job Specifications: Full-time. In the city of Aguascalientes, Mexico. No salary, but small compensation and housing including services granted.

Work experience: Previous experience in work, internships or volunteering in the humanitarian sector, with NGOs, or in areas related to human rights, vulnerable populations or migration is desirable.

Studies: Bachelor’s degree completed or currently a student in International Relations, Political Science, Communication, Social Work, or related studies.

*Master’s degree is desirable.

Language: Proficient in Spanish and/or English, or good command of oral, written and reading comprehension skills in either one of the two languages or both.

Computer skills: Excellent domain of Microsoft Office and Google Drive tools.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities will be related to the specific area of the internship.

For this internship program period (January to June 2024) the following positions are expected to be occupied:

  1. General management intern
  2. Strategic development and engagement intern
  3. Habesha media intern

The following is a brief description of the intern’s role in each area and some of the objectives and activities assigned to him/her.

Management intern: The objective is being the right hand of the organization’s directors, supporting them in the coordination of the programs.

Tasks may include:

  • Attend internal and external meetings with different stakeholders to take notes and potentially follow-up on the meetings.
  • Arrange meetings and update the agenda of the Director of the organization.
  • Create internal reports, such as the monthly reports, mission and event reports, as well as organizing the report database.
  • Update the organization’s tool to identify organizations within the field, and conduct background research that supports the organization’s mission.
  • Create other supportive materials and documents for the organization.

Strategic Development and Engagement: The objective is to support the Strategic Development and Engagement area in following and implementing the organization’s action strategy. Actively support fund application processes, Monitoring and Evaluation activities for each area, and internal, donor and annual reporting.

Tasks may include:

  • Drafting documents: Assist the area in the preparation of various types of documents, such as proposals, reports, guidelines, and concept notes, producing at least one document per month under progressively less supervision.
  • M&E: Participate in the creation and consolidation of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms and tools with the goal of producing a final report by the end of the internship under minimal supervision.
  • Donor mapping: Complement the existing database of donors and relevant partners through the area’s Radar.
  • Internal systems: assist the team in updating and strengthening the internal application system of at least one area of the organization.

Habesha Media: The objective is to support the area in following, implementing and expanding DIME’s communication strategy. Actively support community management and social media content creation. Help with various logistics and administrative tasks. Enrich the area with a new set of skills, ideas and a fresh perspective.

Tasks may include:

  • Generate various audiovisual products (sensibilization videos, podcasts, reports, documentaries, etc.) and be involved in planification, shooting, production and post-production and editing phases.
  • Produce photography and/or audiovisual products for the documentation and sharing of activities and events implemented by DIME on social media.
  • Assist the Creative Director in the realization of various drawing products.
