International Media Relations Manager – Remote

Salary: £42,209 plus benefits

Mary’s Meals International is recruiting for a talented International Media Relations Manager to join our growing global communications team. In this newly created, multi-faceted role, you will lead on the development and implementation of successful media programmes and campaigns. Your work will contribute to our global communications strategy, promoting our brand, raising awareness, upholding our values and driving global media activity. Working collaboratively across our global family, you will mentor, support and guide our National Affiliates in the development of media activity.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will develop an overarching media relations strategy for the organisation and manage relationships with agencies and partners. You’ll prepare press material for global media and marketing campaigns, seek placement of pieces and proactively seek out media opportunities. You will also:

• Distribute media material to key international media contacts (traditional and online) and foster media opportunities to raise awareness and grow our movement.
• Work closely with the Communications teams in Programme Affiliates to develop and implement effective media campaigns in country ensuring maximum exposure and brand awareness.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of press releases and media efforts to build best practice within Mary’s Meals.
• Build relationships with journalists, pitching stories, opinion pieces and feature ideas to the media, and work with the Director of Communications in developing a proactive global MM media strategy, including crisis communications.
• Ensure FAQs are quickly prepared and disseminated to the relevant internal partners in the case of a media event or crisis.
• Develop and deliver media training for all relevant areas of the Mary’s Meals family.
• Manage curation of MMI film assets rights, licensing and distribution.
• Manage our relationship with our media database house Onclusive.
• Assist in delivering crisis management communications where needed.

You will bring:

Our ideal candidate will bring significant work experience from international press and communications roles, with extensive experience of writing media releases and developing productive relationships with media outlets. Experience of implementing media relations strategies to achieve aims and objectives is key, as is the ability to think creatively and generate new ideas, bringing others along with you. With exceptional written and verbal communication skills, you will develop focussed communications for a variety of audiences and will thrive in a collaborative and culturally diverse environment. You will also bring strong time management skills, with the ability to manage concurrent projects and work to tight deadlines. A relevant degree in Journalism, Communications or English is desirable.
