**International Media Manager Location: London (hybrid role working between home and office) Contract type: 12-month fixed term contract (maternity cover) Hours per week: 35 Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum dependent on experience (inclusive of Inner London Weighting allowance)

About this opportunity**

We are looking for a creative, inspiring communicator and leader to be our International Media Manager for 12 months, covering a maternity leave. This is a fantastic role driving the p ublic voice of the British Red Cross on international issues – managing the strategic planning and delivery of media activity relating to our international work, reach and impact. This includes leading and delivering a dynamic, responsive media approach to international emergencies and breaking news.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively develop and grow our public voice on the major international issues of our time and our strategic priorities
  • Respond with speed, confidence and political sensitivity to emerging events, crisis and relevant items on the news agenda
  • Work closely with International colleagues and leadership to agree priorities and opportunities to shape our communications agenda
  • Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to deliver joined-up and impactful communications strategy and plans
  • Line manage a senior media officer

What we are looking for…

As an experienced communicator you will have a strong understanding of UK and international media. You will be able to spot what makes a good story and understand both news and features.

You will have:

  • Strong influencing skills including persuasive speaking and presentation skills and writing skills
  • The ability to adapt to changing and / or new, sudden onset demands revising plans, content, approaches as needed
  • Substantial experience of, and proven ability, as a media and public relations officer or journalist
  • Significant experience communicating on international issues that are high on the media agenda
  • An extensive network of contacts in news media in the UK.
