About this opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for two talented International HR Managers to join a small but dedicated people team. With a geographically dispersed staff population, our ambition is that each postholder will have a regional focus. Please do make sure to apply for the role for which you qualify the most as the two pools of applicants will be treated separately.

The International HR Manager (IHRM) for Latin America (Bolivia, Colombia and Peru) and the US will primarily service our staff in the region. They will bring a strong expertise and knowledge of the local contexts, ideally through substantial prior work experience with international not-for-profits based in the region.

They will ensure that our international team of staff are managed according to good practice in HR Management and in line with NRGI’s values. They are responsible for ensuring that NRGI is resourced with appropriate numbers of competent and well-motivated staff to achieve strategic objectives; and that those staff are managed in a manner that engages them effectively and attends to their wellbeing.

The IHRM will take on a partnering approach, building relationships to engage with and influence strategic and operational development of key stakeholder groups across their specific region. They will also work as part of the wider HR team, collaborating on projects and creating consistent approaches to the HR service provided through regular interaction and knowledge sharing.

Key responsibilities

As International HR Manager, you will support our needs analysis to identify the strategic people-resourcing requirements of NRGI’s programs and departments.

You will ensure that potential risks associated with the organization’s employment of staff are identified and mitigated, including safeguarding strategies, data protection and compliance with HR legislation in all countries of operation.

You will additionally advise management concerning best practice in People Management; aiming to support the achievement of strategic goals and compliance with legal and statutory requirements.

Working closely with the HR Director, the CFAO and the Finance Controller you will contribute to develop and manage the budgets associated with NRGI’s employment of staff; including remuneration elements and Learning & Development budgets as well as the budget for implementation of the HR Department Annual Plan.

You will be expected to support the development and implementation of an effective performance review and feedback process of the organization-wide performance reviews, ensuring that staff are provided with clarity of expectations (e.g. through a combination of job descriptions, performance contracts, codes of conduct, induction, mentoring). You will work with directors to develop their own learning and career development plans, feeding the results into top level succession planning.

Other responsibilities include regularly reviewing and updating NRGI’s HR policies and procedures to ensure that systems, records and routines for all key HR functions are in place and that good practice is implemented across regional jurisdictions where NRGI has workers.

It will be a varied and busy role, with many opportunities to bring new ideas and ways to refine our processes, as well as the level of service we offer to our staff around the world.

This role might be for you if …

You have a solid international experience, preferably with international NGOs/not-for-profits (local experience in-country is highly valued), and experience in an HR advisory capacity.

You are able to demonstrate expertise, particularly on compliance and best practice, in the US and Latin America.

You have experience implementing process changes, support staff through transitions; and have a good understanding and awareness of local best practice (in all areas of HR) and compliance

You have the ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders, particularly remotely, and to gain their trust to influence outcomes.

We would value candidates who can bring additional competencies such as coaching experience, experience developing L&D offers/catalogue or similar.

Cultural awareness, a sense of humor and a willingness to help and support other team members beyond what is strictly your responsibilities, are also attributes we would value.
