Job Summary

Brooke is an international animal welfare charity dedicated to improving the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules. The Internal Communications Manager is an exciting new position within our organisation. Initially we are offering it on a 0.6 FTE basis but we would like to encourage the successful candidate to consider potential scope to make it full time – whether this be expanding into external communications or building upon the internal communications you will already be developing.

Responding to the Head of Brand and communications, with a dotted line to the Chief Executive, this position will be the lead for all internal communication matters including strategy, planning and execution. This is a particularly special opportunity to really pave the way, enhance our working culture and boost employee engagement.

As our Internal Communications Manager, you will be reviewing the existing channels and identifying needs for alternatives. You will collaborate with teams both in the UK and oversees, in order to collate stories about Brooke’s work and important business developments. You will also: write, edit and design all internal communications; be in charge of establishing a consistent tone for Brooke’s employee communications; and, keep abreast of emerging trends and best practice for internal communications and employee engagement.

A successful candidate will need to have a minimum of three years’ experience in internal communications, strong writing and editing skills with an ability to craft compelling communications, and a demonstrable understanding of digital platforms. You will need to have a proactive, helpful and positive approach with skills in building internal stakeholder relationships.

At Brooke, we celebrate diversity and the creative new ideas it brings. We actively encourage applications from all backgrounds, in particular global majority candidates, candidates from a social mobility background, disabled and neuro-diverse candidates, and candidates under 25 as these groups are currently under-represented at Brooke.

We are aware that studies have shown that women and global majority candidates are less likely to apply for a role if they feel they do not meet the full criteria of the job description. If you feel you meet the majority of the criteria, we would love to hear from you.

We offer a variety of flexible working options to best support our staff and to ensure our working practices are as inclusive as possible

Expected interview date: 8th/9th Feb
