Catholic Relief Services

About CRS:

Catholic Relief Services carries out the commitment of the Bishops of the United States to assist the poor and vulnerable overseas. Our Catholic identity is at the heart of our mission and operations. We welcome as a part of our staff and as partners people of all faiths and secular traditions who share our values and our commitment to serving those in need.

As an organization that celebrates and promotes diversity and inclusion, and which is committed to the ongoing work of racial equity and anti-racism, we welcome applicants of all backgrounds.

Background:

Young people in developing countries and fragile states need leadership and life skills, employability, entrepreneurship, and other critical skills and support to secure livelihoods and become active citizens and change agents in their communities. Too many young people have experienced war, violence and trauma and face poverty, food insecurity and marginalization, in addition to stigma and discrimination. These factors are compounded by the absence of productive connections to social mobility networks and institutions. Sadly, the numbers of Opportunity Youth (OY) – marginalized young women and men – have significantly increased with the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the Agency Strategy Vision 2030, CRS aims to scale youth livelihoods and leadership. Our vision is to transform employment and entrepreneurship systems to be more responsive to the needs of young people, thereby resulting in sustained impact on the lives and livelihoods of 5 million opportunity youth. CRS strives to reach OY on a large scale by permanently changing the systems that serve them. CRS will accomplish this through a two-pronged strategy of building a strong foundation by strengthening youth approaches and models for impactful programming and applying systems thinking for scale and influence.
