Intern – UHAS

An exciting 10-week paid fully remote, or hybrid Internship experience awaits! Gain real life experience into the world of Long-Term Care (LTC) Actuarial Consulting. You will work within a high-energy, fast paced environment that is both competitive and fun. This role will afford the opportunity to work with our UHAS division for Summer 2023. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and develop a broad range of key actuarial and analytical skills relating to a variety of health products and coverages. This is also an exciting opportunity since you will experience, firsthand, what actuarial consulting is all about. Our clients come to us for a range of services, like pricing, experience studies, audit support, modeling, valuation, and financial reporting. Our clients range from Private Insurance Companies to Public State Programs.

Our summer internship program offers the chance to have practical, real-world experience at a Top 16 P&C Broker who also provides various consulting services. As a part of the program, you will have the opportunity to work on business specific projects where you will gain knowledge and experience to supplement and strengthen your skills.

You will:

• Receive targeted actuarial and technical training with a greater understanding of the LTC industry
• Engage with our Health, non-medical, Actuarial Team members and be assigned specific tasks across several clients relating to
• Experience analysis,
• Reserve methods, and
• Audit support
• Attend client conference calls
• Learn, and then make a virtual presentation to the UHAS team
• Be assigned a dedicated Internship Mentor & Internship Ambassador during your Internship experience.
• Engage weekly with Sr. Leaders across the company on our renowned “Let’s Talk”, “Leadership Series
• Participate weekly in our “Talent Tuesday”, Professional Development Series (Creating/Updating Your LinkedIn profile, Interviewing Best Practices, Resume Writing, Job Search tips etc.).
• Be actively involved in our “Risk Mate” Program for breakout sessions throughout the summer.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Must be a Rising Senior (Anticipated Graduation 5/24).
• Have passed at least 1 actuarial exam
• Must be available for entire 10-week program.
• 3.0 GPA or higher (Transcript required prior to interview).
• Must be pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field (Finance, Risk Management, or Economics (previous insurance internship experience may be considered in lieu of).
• Must be available to interview in December/January.
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
• Must be detailed oriented.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite.
• Must be able to work well virtually. 100% of the UHAS team works remotely.
