This position is located in the dynamic environment of UNRWA’s Human Resources Operational Services Division (HROSD).

The intern’s role will be to assist the HR Operational Services Division in various HR and Administrative functions.

Responsibilities

• Supports HROSD with administrative functions, including filing, copying and drafting correspondences
• Archives electronic and hard copy reports, documents and HR files.
• Arranges meetings and briefing schedules, welcomes visitors to the UNRWA compound.
• Supports HROSD in compiling dashboard data according to regular reporting deadlines, liaise with managers to provide analysis when needed.
• Supports HROSD in data collection and compilation from field offices, for the purposes of reporting or compliance monitoring.
• Logs all data and reporting requests.
• Supports implementation of special projects or HR initiatives for HROSD
• Supports preparation of communication materials or presentations required for HR activities with various internal and external stakeholders to the HR Department.
• Supports HROSD in creating content in form of articles, newsletters or email communications based on data collected on HR Events, achievements, and changes.
• Supports in various HR projects as requested by the supervisor
• Performs other duties as appropriate.

Education

Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate school program or have completed a bachelor degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Management ; or any other related fields.

Work Experience

Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship is desirable.

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.

Be computer literate in standard software applications including Excel, a working knowledge of Power BI is desirable.

Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views is desirable.

Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter is desirable.

Languages

Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

This is an unpaid internship opportunity. All costs connected with an intern’s participation must be borne by the intern. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Teams will be required software for the intern.

At the stage of acceptance of an internship placement, interns must prove to the satisfaction of UNRWA that they have adequate medical and accident insurance coverage prior to commencing the placement.

Intern placements shall not constitute employment by UNRWA. Interns are considered to be complementary personnel with non-staff status. The purpose of the internship program is not to lead to further employment with UNRWA but to complement an intern’s studies.

Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship. Interns are eligible to apply as external candidates for UNRWA staff vacancies in accordance with normal selection procedures.
