This position is located in the International Professional Services Section (IPSS) of UNRWA.

The intern will report to the Head, IPSS and may work from home. Therefore, internship candidates should be prepared to telecommute (telework) from their current place of residence. The internship is for 6 months depending on the needs of the office. The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

The intern’s role will be to assist Human Resources Officers with various operational task related to staff member inquiries, onboarding of candidates, generating mass communication items, updating IPS’ message on UNRWA’s intranet, etc Responsibilities Under the supervision and guidance of a Human Resources Officer, specific tasks may include:

• Provide support to the IPSS team as needed including responding to inquiries/creating documents.

• Assist in the digitization and distribution of official documentation. • Manage employee electronic files. • Assign task to team members via the tracking tool.

• Participate in record keeping improvement projects and make recommendations on data master.

• Provides statistics and runs reports as requested.

• Assist in the creation of communication items for UNRWA’s intranet.

• Perform other related duties, as required.

Competencies Competencies:

Communication Technical Skills Planning and Organizing Education To qualify for this internship applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).

Candidates should be computer literate in standard software applications, including Excel. They should also have a demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Educational background or exposure to human resources, business administration or related issues is desirable. Experience working with SharePoint, or a similar tool is desirable.

Job Specific Qualifications

Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. A field of study that is closely related Human Resources, Analytics, Business Administration or similar. (Required) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (Required) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorg’s level or equivalent). (Required) Languages Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required; Working knowledge of Arabic is an asset (Desirable).
