Inter-Regional Branch & Volunteer Development Delegate
Location: Ukraine, exact Oblast to be determined
Contract Type: 12-month, Fixed Term Contract
Salary: £29,198 – £32,237 per annum DOE, plus £1,260.88 monthly allowance (BRC Overseas Grade 4)

Could you support the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) to foster local action, enable stronger local ownership and contribute to local sustainable development of its Branches and Volunteers?

The British Red Cross (BRC), as part of its wider response to the conflict escalation on the 24th February 2022, is supporting URCS Branches in three key regions (Kyiv Oblast, Kyiv City, and Chernihiv Oblast). Within these URCS regions, BRC will work through URCS Regional Branches to support the regional structure at oblast, district and local level. BRC will offer expert advice, guidance, and support, in five thematic areas: (1) Information Management (IM); (2) Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA); (3) Humanitarian Advocacy (HA); (4) Branch & Volunteer Development (BraVo); & (5) Livelihoods; but support will not be strictly limited to these.

About the role:

The Inter-Regional Branch & Volunteer Development (BraVo) Delegate will support the URCS to foster local action, enable stronger local ownership and contribute to sustainable local development. As part of this commitment to localization, the Inter-Regional BraVo Delegate will work with the URCS Branch and Volunteer Development in Emergencies (BraVoiE) national program to facilitate coherence and overall alignment of BRC support to URCS programs.

The Inter-Regional BraVo Delegate will provide technical and advisory support to URCS to enhance its branch capacity to deliver humanitarian services in the current crisis as well as developing a sustainable branch structure for the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support URCS to implement their BraVo activities
  • Maintain an ongoing work plan with agreed to priorities and timeline of BraVo support to URCS
  • Participate in the design and maintenance of program management and evaluation tools
  • Work in close collaboration with a URCS Inter-Regional Manager (IRM) counterpart, coaching and mentoring them in key areas of technical and professional development
  • Contribute to the technical working groups and other initiatives to advance URCS BraVo priorities
  • Build and foster collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts, including Movement partners and relevant organisations in line with the BRC’s regional strategic direction and program priorities

What we are looking for:

  • Strong international experience, especially within an emergency response context
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively to support capacity strengthening of local partners under complex and often ambiguous conditions.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information, produce engaging presentations and reports, and communicate key BraVo concepts to a variety of audiences
  • Proven ability to adapt to specific cultural ways of working, inter-cultural communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to develop strong cross-functional working relationships and negotiate effectively.
