Chapman University seeks applications for a non-tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice or Instructor in School Psychology in the Donna Ford Attallah College of Educational Studies starting August 2023. The primary responsibilities of this position are graduate student school psychology practicum and internship coursework, and fieldwork supervision and coordination. Qualifications
Required Qualifications-Doctorate (Ph.D./Ed.D/Psy.D.) in school psychology by the start of employment from an accredited institution is required for the Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice level. Experienced applicants with an Ed.S. or equivalent in school psychology will be considered at the Instructor level.-Demonstrated ability to supervise school psychology fieldwork with at least 3 years experience supervising graduate students in K-12 settings and/or at the university level.-CA credential in School Psychology Pupil Personnel Services (or equivalent and eligibility for the CA credential) and at least 3 years of professional experience as a practicing school psychologist in K-12 settings (5 years or more is preferred).-Familiarity with the NASP model of training and supervision.-Demonstrated potential of effective teaching at the graduate level, including courses directly related to supervision in school psychology. -Demonstrated ability to build beneficial and productive working relationships within the university and public education communities.-Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in education and must be willing to contribute to the University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plan.Desired Qualifications-Ability to teach courses across the CSP program (i.e., school psychology, school counseling, clinical counseling) as needed.-Active engagement in providing professional development to school psychologists. -Active involvement in state and national professional organizations.-Expertise and facility with technology, including remote instruction and mental health services. -Experience with development and implementation of innovative school psychology and counseling programs.-Ability to design and implement program and course assessment tools.-Experience serving and/or teaching in underserved communities.-Strong interpersonal communication skills.-Demonstrated commitment to collaboration.-Bilingual in the most common world languages spoken in Orange County schools (Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) and/or Tagalog).
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach, advise, and mentor students across the Counseling and School Psychology (CSP) Programs, particularly those in the School Psychology program during practicum and internship. These programs prepare students to effectively serve as school psychologists, school counselors and clinical counselors in a range of organizations, collaborating with individuals, families, communities, and schools toward an inclusive, equitable, and just world. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position that requires work to be performed in the State of California and has in-person teaching responsibilities and required on-campus availability at Chapman’s Orange campus.Responsibilities include:-Teach and coordinate school psychology graduate fieldwork courses, along with outreach, communication and program evaluation/enhancement regarding practicum and internship. Additional courses will be assigned based on expertise. Current course descriptions are available at https://catalog.chapman.edu.-Stay informed of research and cutting edge practices in the field of school psychology, school counseling, clinical counseling, supervision, and mental health. -Actively contribute as an integral member of the school psychology and school counseling faculty in the ongoing development, implementation, and assessment of the overall program and its curriculum. -Actively participate in the continuing education of school psychologists, school counselors and/or clinical counselors through presentations at conferences, school district partnerships, and local professional organizations.-Provide academic advising and professional mentorship to school psychology and school counseling students and alumni. -Actively participate in the design, implementation, and interpretation of assessment systems that evaluate the efficacy of the school psychology program.-Perform service to the unit, college, university, profession and wider community as expected of a non-tenure track faculty member.
