Overview
You always start with the end in mind. While others get overwhelmed by the big picture, your unique skill is being able to break down larger goals into distinct projects with owners, timelines, tasks and deadlines. With plans mapped out, you’re able to guide your teammates through a challenging rhythm of checkpoints and across the finish line on projects across a portfolio.
As part of the initiative operations capability, your initial responsibility will be to work with Stand Together’s Criminal Justice Reform team to break barriers and help people realize their potential. Every day you will drive multiple concurrent projects, work with a broad range of internal and external collaborators, and implement knowledge channels and processes that position the team with information to make optimal decisions. Your Responsibilities Include
- Partner with internal and external teammates to develop and implement knowledge channels and processes that facilitate integration between capabilities e.g. policy, communications, fundraising, etc.
- Ensure initiative team objectives, metrics and timelines are developed and regularly connect the team to progress across the strategy, especially key projects
- Work with initiative team and stakeholders to drive regular planning and analysis of team performance, dissemination of learnings, and resulting adjustments
- Identify and manage risk inherent in the initiative teams strategy and key projects; anticipate and embrace change
- Identify opportunities for optimization through collaboration across the team, particularly across the teams multiple capabilities and portfolios
- Proactively communicate updates about team progress or challenges to key audiences e.g. stakeholders, internal staff, or potential partners
- Project manage discrete projects within the initiative team
- Quickly identify, track and determine the most appropriate time elevate challenges
- Strong writing skills and have experience gathering and condensing mass amounts of information into clear, concise reports
- Maintain initiative and project records and documents in accordance with ST’s compliance policies
Knowledge and Skills You Bring to the Organization
- Ability to drive clarity on initiative and project strategy
- Ability to drive multiple concurrent projects to completion in a fast-paced environment; 2+ years of experience managing projects and tracking deadlines
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work well with all levels of staff and with external partners
- Impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and quickly adapt to changing circumstances
- High sense of urgency and initiative
- Understanding of and interest in classical liberal ideas and the mission of the Stand Together Community, especially our Criminal Justice Reform efforts
- Entrepreneurial and analytical spirit
- Takes initiative to continuously identify areas for improvement and willingness to experiment with solutions
- Ability to have both a big picture mindset while simultaneously being connected to details
