 Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Information Manager, the successful candidate will be focused on data and information management for safety related incidents for Iraq.

He/she will be responsible for data consolidation and consistency and will work with other partners on data sharing and verification. The successful candidate will work closely with the Safety Advisors to ensuring ongoing support and collaboration and will therefore be expected to follow the safety landscape and to help define key trends and patterns. 

As part of a young and dynamic team, he/she will be working with one of the leading humanitarian information and safety NGOs in Iraq.

Expected start date is 01 April 2022.

Hierarchy

Reports to the INFO Manager (Line Manager). 

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of INSO Iraq’s information and data on Conflict and Humanitarian Data Centre (CHDC)
  • Produce and maintain high-quality, safety-relevant static maps, including safety incident mapping, area of influence mapping, detailed risk maps for key roads and cities, NGO presence maps.
  • Maintain SharePoint
  • Receive, review, and code regional submissions of safety incidents.
  • Assist in the production of INSO products and services such as the Weekly Incident List, The INSO Report and Quarterly Reports, as well as materials for Area Assessments and briefings to a range of partners.
  • Maintain the INSO Partners Portal (IPP)
  • Support the IM in the management of NGO registration with INSO Iraq.

IT MANAGEMENT

  • Conception, preparation, and implementation of the office IT set-up, under the supervision of the IM.
  • Ensure all INSO users have access to all relevant licensed software, including antivirus, office and SharePoint.
  • Assess the security software of the INSO’s IT systems and ensure it is appropriately mitigated.
  • Ensure that emails and key electronic files are backed up once a month.
  • Support staff with their setup for meetings and briefing either in person or using MS Teams. 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE:

Minimum:

  • Graduate degree or equivalent experience in Information Systems, Computer science, IT or a relevant discipline.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task..
  • Ability to learn new tools, prioritize workload, think critically, think creatively, identify problems, and develop and implement solutions.
  • Good oral and written skills in English.
  • Demonstrate ability to use Microsoft Excel pivot tables as well as the use of MS Power Bi and creating dashboards.
  • Knowledge of QGIS or ArcGIS on creating simple maps.

Preferred:

  • Previous working experience in working with or for NGOs in Iraq.
  • Having experience about the governments and districts within Iraq.
  • Knowledge of Tableau and Google Maps/ArcGIS Online Mapping will be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated a capacity to look at the Iraq conflict in a neutral manner.
  • A good listener.
  • An effective communicator.
  • Team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Outgoing and proactive personality.

How To Apply

Terms & Conditions:

12-month contract based in Erbil, Iraq with expected start date of 01 April 2022, 20 days annual leave a year. Annual salary increment added according to INSO Salary Scale 2022. Health insurance is included in the salary package. The salary is taxable according to labour law.
