About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role:

The Information Management (IM) Project Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of the MAG global information management system, and nobly the effective data collection, analysis and sharing of information to support MAG’s HMA and WAM efforts. The IM Project Manager will plan, coordinate, monitor, and manage the quality of the IM projects at the PIM unit and programmes level. This position requires a strong understanding of information management systems and project management within a mine action context.

About you:

The successful candidate will have extensive expertise in managing information management projects, including data collection, validation, analysis, and sharing within the mine action sector. They will have advanced skills in leading complex cross-functional projects, coordinating with diverse stakeholders in multicultural environments. Proficiency in data architecture, data management, and ArcGIS applications is essential, alongside strong process mapping abilities. Excellent communication, problem-solving acumen, attention to detail, and mediation skills are crucial for this role.

About the Programme Information Management (PIM) unit:

The IM Project Manager operates within the PIM unit. The PIM unit was established in the second semester of 2023 and integrated into the Programme Quality Team (PQT) at the global level, under the direction of programmes. The PQT consists of three closely collaborating units: the Standard, Training, and Compliance unit (STCU); the Programme Performance and Learning unit (PPLU); and the PIM unit. The PIM unit is undergoing expansion, increasing from 2 staff members in 2023 to 8 to 10 individuals in 2024, coinciding with the establishment of an IM hub in Amman, Jordan.
