Organizational context

The Polish Red Cross is an organization associated in the world’s largest humanitarian movement, one of the oldest in the history of mankind. Its constituent parts are the internationally operating: the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (Federation) and national Red Cross or Red Crescent Societies.

The Main Board of the Polish Red Cross operates at the national level, 16 District Branches in voivodships, and over 200 District Branches at the poviat level. The fourth level, the lowest in the hierarchy, and thus its foundation, are the basic units: PCK School Circles, Youth Community Instructors (SIM), Blood Donor Clubs, Rescue Group and Humanitarian Aid Groups.

The mission of the Polish Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering, and to protect human dignity, without any discrimination on the basis of nationality, race, gender, religious or political beliefs.

Professional duties and responsibilities

  • Ensuring quality of data collection processes and data management activities including encoding, storing, and transferring data to key stakeholders. As needed, establish data collection tools (templates, tables, forms, etc.) to gather operational data, and provide training on the use of the tools.
  • Provide strategic support and technical oversight to guide IM functions in Red Cross district and branch offices to ensure a cohesive IM approach across the Red Cross.
  • Create information products such as graphs, charts, infographics, and maps to illustrate the program scale and progress. Make data and products available to teams to enable better data-driven decision making.
  • Support overall coordination of the response by linking with ongoing assessments by other agencies in country, and support in assessing the humanitarian situation.
  • Support, advise or lead (when assigned) the assessment design, analysis and reporting based on the analysis framework and plan.
  • Ensure appropriate data protection policies are adhered to.
  • Participate in country-wide coordination mechanisms such the Refugee Response Plan (RRP) and ensure that the plans and accomplishments of the Red Cross are represented.
  • Promote the work of the Polish Red Cross

Duties applicable to all staff

  • Actively work towards the achievement of the Polish Red Cross goals
  • Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles
  • Perform any other work related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager

Position requirements

Education

Relevant degree (minimum Bachelor’s degree) or equivalent experience in Information Management, GIS, Geography, Statistics or equivalent – required

Experience

Minimum 2 years of prior professional experience in the development and use of GIS, database systems, data visualisation and other information management tools and mechanisms – required

Minimum of 1 year prior professional experience working with a non-governmental organization (NGO) or social agency – preffered

Red Cross background knowledge, and some experience volunteering – preffered

Knowledge and Skills

required:

Ability to organize, analyse and synthesise large amounts of information

Advanced ability to use Excel for data storage, data cleaning, data manipulation with formulas, and analysis/visualization (pivot tables, graphs, charts, etc.)

Experience using a variety of data collection, survey, and reporting tools

Computer software skills

Coordination and people management

Strong planning and attention to details

Strong communication skillls

Teamwork

Languages

Preferred: Ukrainian

Required: English, Polish
