The IM associate will assist in the establishment of an IM system that supports the office and furthermore, liaise and support partners when needed to enhance performance and reporting from other stakeholders and partners
The candidate will have certain level of direct contact with UNHCR’s people of concern, sometimes living in extremely vulnerable conditions, which requires openness, patience, and utmost respect from the candidate. Basic facilities are available in the settlements and operation sites; however, the candidate is also expected to handle outdoor working activities in the field.
The candidate should have related education, or another related areas/field as mentioned below. Experience with handling complex data; excellent computer skills (in MS Office), advanced skills in MS Excel (e.g. Pivot tables), functions and basic skills in development of infographic materials through Adobe Illustrator; basic/advanced skills in the use of ArcGIS and/or other mapping software; basic/advanced skills in the use of data collection platforms such as Kobo; demonstrated reporting and writing skills in English; experience with handling multi-sectorial information/data and demonstrated understanding of different data collection methodologies is an added advantage
The candidate will work in close collaboration with the protection/registration and field teams in the office, as well as will be able to receive guidance and requests from the IMO based in the CO and the RBSA DIMA team, whenever needed.
This position reports to the Associate IM Officer.

Duties:**

  • Operationalize country-specific common data standards and promote them with partners, including UNHCR data standards and the IASC Common Operational Datasets.
  • Compile and aggregate information elements required to produce standardized information products and implement data/information collection plans for baseline and context-specific data.
  • Collect, collate and process information and perform data quality and consistency control.
  • Produce summary statistics.
  • Support the coordination of data collection teams.
  • Support and leverage geographic data for map production and use in geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Share UNHCR data with partner agencies and maintain Portal data and information in-line with agreed frequencies.
  • Participate in Needs Assessment processes, specifically in data collection, processing/collation and data exploration.
  • Liaise with partners and represent UNHCR in meetings related to the functions.
  • Make recommendations and provide advice on the technical information management requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
